Headaches. They were the bane of his existence.

Actually, that was a lie, the bane of his existence was… several other things. Well, it could be one of the bane's of his existence he had, he was a very busy man you know, always running out of time and having too much time and such.

Headaches. They were the one of many banes of his existence.

He always had them, it wasn't as if he ever took a day rest from making hats because of a silly flu or whatever he caught. His head would pound from not enough light or too much, no sleep, and days without food. It was how things were, and after awhile, he grudgingly gotten use to them, and the ways they came and went without warning.

In the middle of a particularly gruesome headache was when the curse hit. Things changed, he no longer sat surrounded by hats, instead a white couch, his hands were empty, and he felt as if he had been given a hair trim and some dashing clothes.

The headache stayed of course.

And it came and went when it wanted. Getting accustomed to two memories running around your head makes you often get frustrated, headaches pounding down on you as you thought.

But it was not the only thing that gave him headaches.

His speed in making hats slow now, no longer the magic of Wonderland speeding it up.

The odd thumping music that poured out of the radio on occasion on its own.

Looking through telescopes to see how happy his daughter was without him.

The horrible, horrible woman coming to check on him and be certain he truly didn't remember.

"Regina, what a surprise. What do I owe the Mayor's visit?"

"Nothing. Just… making sure."

Such a large headache.

Headaches became common occurrence, and he thought he would die with them.

Then he found Snow White wandering in his backyard.

Then he lured her daughter to his home.

Then she made him a hat.

Then Snow White kicked him through a window.

And the hat fell on his head.

And the headaches suddenly just stopped.
