"Gammy?" asked young Jackie Beatles. "What's this?"

Her grandmother turned to the nine-year-old girl. "Oh, that's your grandfather's memory box. He kept it around for who knows what reason, that man."

"Can I open it?" Jackie asked, wide-eyed.

"Sure hon," her grandma said.

Jackie opened the cardboard box. On the top was a picture of a short blonde boy, his hair in a bowl cut, wearing an orange hoodie and blue jeans. He was slouching, his hands in his pockets, and he seemed to be glaring at whoever was taking the picture. Standing next to him was a beaming Japanese girl with long dark hair, wearing an oversized green sweatshirt and black leggings. She had one arm around the boy and seemed happier than anything. They both had rainbow monkey rainbows on top of their heads. They were standing in what looked like a wooden room.

"Who are they?" Jackie asked, pointing to the photo.

"That's me and your grandfather," her grandma chuckled. "Taken on my eleventh birthday. Oh, what a day that was."

Jackie continued to root through the box. She found a lot of things with the letters KND on them, more pictures of her grandparents when they were little, and a few other things. At the bottom of the box was an orange rainbow monkey.

"Oh!" Jackie cried as she unearthed this last item. "Can I have it?"

Her grandmother chuckled softly. "Of course."

"Yay!" Jackie said, and skipped down the stairs just as her grandfather came up them.

"Kuki, Cody's here to take the girls home." He saw the memory box open. "And what have we here?"

"Oh, just some memories, Wally," Kuki smiled.
