Sleeplessness

She'd been sleeping less.

Shiro found, day after day, that it was harder to get to sleep; even with the thick branches shielding her from the daylight, her body just wouldn't rest.

"It's getting colder…" she mused aloud as she sat against the trunk, watching the sunbeams break through the leaves and played with one, letting it reflect off the blue of her bringer.

Should probably head…home. She thought bitterly. Back to Fortuna? Was she serious?

She rubbed her tired eyes with her left hand and let out a long yawn. A headache was forming, starting from around her eyes, and she leaned her head back; covering the tired blue orbs with her eyelids.

The exhaust was showing in her battles; Red Queen felt heavier and swung sluggishly, Blue Rose missed her mark and even the bringer seemed to be lacking its usual soft, blue glow. Yet what was Shiro to do? Her body demanded sleep, yet it eluded her every time.

Fear. Something inside whispered. Fear of being attacked while you sleep - even during the day.

She growled at the imaginary voice and tried, once more, to sleep.
