Sup guys, Lighting Wolf here, back with another story, this one about Halo. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Halo, Microsoft, 343 and a few others do.
The shipmaster of the Triumphant Salvation walked back and forth as the CSO-Class Supercarrier floated in deep space.
"We were betrayed, brother!" The Shipmaster: Thesan 'Gamaai heard and turned to his second in command: Rure 'Malkam.
"I know." Thesan said and then he turned and continued walking down the hallway of his ship.
"You know and yet you let our brothers question their purpose. Our entire ship…" Rure hissed while Thesan turned to him and pointed a clawed finger at him.
"My ship… I will decide what our purpose is aboard this vessel, brother… Second Master, take care of the others, I will be on the bridge…" Thesan said before he walked away, he felt his brother's eyes bore into his back while he walked.
"The Prophets lie… And yet still my soldiers aboard this vessel question me…" Thesan said.
He had 50,000 to 60,000 soldiers aboard his ship, a CSO-class Carrier had more soldiers then even a CAS-Class Carrier.
Being 23 Kilometers longer then those ships helped, he had no loyalty to the Covenant, he served it out of faith for the Forerunners.
But the Prophets deemed the Humans as deserving slaughter. Thesan thought of his wife and son on Sanghelios. He turned to see Rure in his face and he sighed.
"We will be executed if we have the Salvation return to Covenant Space… We are alone, just one ship against the galaxy." Rure said, Thesan turned to walk away before Rure spoke up.
"We have deciphered part of the relic; it shows a Holy Ring… But Vadamee's fleet is already enroute…" Rure said, Thesan knew the Covenant would have him tried and executed if he had his ship return to Covenant held space.
Was he really risking his ship and his men on a single attack? He would not be turning back if he did… And he didn't know which of his men was loyal to him and which to the Covenant.
"Make the jump, we don't make a move until I command it… If it is a holy ring…. You and a ground wave will be deployed…. If we engage in heresy, then I am not risking the Solace… We are nothing…" Thesan ordered and Rure turned and walked away.
"By the Gods… We are all damned already." Thesan stated before he walked away from the hallway towards the bridge.
It seemed they would be fighting the Covenant… But even Thesan knew a super carrier couldn't take an entire fleet on alone. He also knew Vadamee was a better commander then he… At least when it came to fleet tactics.
"Shipmaster, are we going to battle with Vadamee?" Thesan heard from his coursemen over the comm.
"We might be… Take us behind the nearest cover once we enter the system and dim the engines, we will make our decision once we are in system and our path is made clearer…. Until then, we worry about simply taking the ship to the coordinates given…" Thesan said while he continued walking towards the bridge, he passed Sangheili Major, Minors, Jackals and Grunts while he walked through the massive ship towards the bridge.
"I cannot believe what we're doing, damn you, Rure." Thesan muttered again before he entered the lift which would take him to the bridge.
He was joined by 2 Elite Minors who looked at their commander, Thesan was silent to his men and brushed off his golden armor before the elevator began to ascend towards the bridge.
"Shipmaster." One of the elites said before Thesan turned to his subordinate and waited for a response.
"We will serve you if need be… But we wish to ask how you plan to engage the Covenant soldiers on such ground…" Thesan heard and he was silent.
"We will see what occurs when we reach the system… I need every soldier I can manage to report to the hanger though, I'll be sending warriors to the holy ring if it is true, we find the holy ring at the coordinates." Thesan said, the Elites nodded and he turned and he marched off the elevator to the bridge.
He turned as the doors closed and he brushed off his energy sword, wondering if it would be needed.
"By the Gods." Thesan said once more.
Author Notes
Phew, first chapter done! I know it isn't perfect, first chapters aren't my thing. I want to point out that this story is going to be different then my other Halo stories as it will mostly focus on one ship and not a fleet or entire Covenant. Next chapter will be on Sunday or so and will show the Salvation arriving at Installation 04 and the beginning of Thesan's battle with the Covenant.
