Confession time: I don't watch Hetalia. I've only seen two episodes that my friends made me watch. Anyways, this is a birthday present for my friend, Miranda, and was prompted by another one of my friends, Andi. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIRANDA! Enjoy Tell the Truth.

Tell the Truth

England walked into the kitchen, intent on making a sandwich, when he noticed something was out of place. Someone had knocked over the cookie jar and had broken it. He knew who had done it, but he wanted to give the person responsible a chance to confess. So England made his sandwich, letting time trickle past as he waited for the guilty boy to admit he did something.

Five minutes after England finished his lunch, a five year old boy waddled into the kitchen. America looked around the room with wide eyes, wondering if Iggy had noticed that he had broken the cookie jar. Maybe he hadn't noticed? America could only hope. He tried his best not to seem guilty as he walked over and climbed into his chair beside England.

"Hey America," England said, not looking up from the newspaper he had grabbed from the table a few moments earlier.

"Hi Iggy," America said nervously.

"Did you notice the cookie jar is broken?" England said, flipping the page.

America's eyes got huge. Uh oh, England knew about the cookie jar! But maybe he didn't know America had broken it. America feigned ignorance. "Nu uh."

England sighed. He knew that America had broken the ceramic container. He just didn't know why the colony didn't confess to it. If he told the truth, he wouldn't get in trouble. But America didn't know that. All he knew was that he had done something wrong and he didn't want to get caught.

"Who broke it?" the little boy asked.

England finally set the paper down and looked America. "Who do you think broke it, America? It wasn't me."

America pretended to think about it. "I dunno. Who?"

"America . . ." England said, exasperated. This was getting ridiculous. Both of them knew America was at fault. "Just tell the truth. You won't get in trouble," he added.

America brightened a little at this. He wouldn't get in trouble? Maybe telling England wouldn't be such a bad thing. "I didn't mean to," he said. "I just wanted a cookie! You were outside, and I wanted to get it by myself." He looked to the ground, embarrassed about what he had done.

England looked at the small boy sitting in front of him, his head bent in shame. Instead of getting mad, the older country placed a hand on the colony's shoulder. The little boy looked up at Iggy, hoping that the man would stick by what he said and America wouldn't get in trouble.

"I'm not mad you broke the cookie jar," England began, "but I am upset that you lied to me."

"I'm sorry," America said. "I didn't want to get in twouble."

"I know," England said. "Next time, just tell the truth."

The little boy smiled brightly. "Okay!"

Okay, this probably sucked, but I tried. That counts for something, right? Again, I've never really watched Hetalia, so I'm not sure if I got the characters right. All I have to go on is fanfic my friends have written, so it might not be exactly accurate. Not that they haven't done well on the characters, it's just I'm not sure I understood it right. And again, happy birthday Miranda! Thanks for reading!
