A knock came on the Sparkle residence's house, it was late at night and Mr. and Mrs. Sparkle we're the two to answer the door. A royal guard from Canterlot was standing at their door but what was he doing here?
"Is everything ok?" Mr. Sparkle asked with concerned.
The royal guard bit his lip. "I'm afraid so and we are terribly sorry to bring up such tragic news.."
Mrs. Sparkle's eyes welled up with tears as she prepared for the worst.
"Private Shining Armor was killed in action.."
Mrs. Sparkle burst into tears. "No…. no! no!"
A young little foal, had been listening from her room.. she would never be happy again. Her BBBFF was forever gone…
"NO!" Young Twilight Sparkle awoke with a startled cry, she sighed relieved to hear she was back in the safety of her room. It had just been a nightmare. Her older brother Shining Armor would be joining the royal guard. This worried her, he would be gone for months and she wouldn't get to spend time with him at all. He was leaving tomorrow morning.
"Shining Armor?" she squeaked peaking her head through his bedroom door, to her surprise the unicorn was still awake. Probably just nerves she thought.
"Twily? Shouldn't you be in bed?"
Twilight Sparkle was on the verge of tears. "I-I couldn't sleep."
Shining saw the look on her face and approached her with concern. "Is everything ok?" He asked pulling her into a hug.
"I had a nightmare.." Twilight croaked. "C-could I stay here with you?" she asked looking up at him with a hopeful look.
Shining smiled warmly down at her. "It's about time I hit the hay anyway, sure come on." He said as he got into bed with his sister now next to him, both now rested on a soft pillow.
"Shining?"
"Hm?"
"Love you BBBFF." With that the young unicorn was fast asleep.
He smiled down at her now sleeping form. "Love you too Twily…"
