"Scully?" Mulder stopped her mid speech and she looked annoyed at him.
"Yes?" she spoke agitated.
"You're not well." He informed her.
"I'm perfectly fine thank you Mulder." She spoke with a little anger and sarcasm in her voice.
"You're standing at my apartment door, in night clothes and its err..." he paused to check his watch. "2:30 AM."
"Oh." She spoke mindlessly.
"Fox?" a voice called from inside the apartment, a woman's voice.
"Oh, you're busy." Dana looked down in dismay as she wrapped her robe around her tighter.
"Well Ally leaves town day after tomorrow." Mulder told her, shrugging his shoulders.
"Well I'll be off then." She told him, brushing a strand of her hair behind her ear.
Back at her apartment, Scully lay in bed, eyes wide open and she couldn't sleep. She was scared of losing her best friend to a girl who had briefly met an hour or so ago. She was screaming out for Mulder to notice her as a woman instead of just a colleague.
Mulder watched Scully get out of her car, eagerly excited to get to the bottom of the scene. As she proceeded towards him, she flashed him a tight smile, and it almost seemed forced.
"Scene's this way." He gestured to a forest overgrowth not so far away and she rolled her eyes.
"Great." She simply moaned before following him into the outgrown treed area. Mulder, naturally, was ahead of her, batting away leaves and such, eager to see the scene, Scully however was falling behind, and her earlier excitement had left her.
Suddenly Mulder jumped when he heard a sharp yelp from behind him. He spun round to see Scully bent over herself, cussing under her breath and nursing a now bleeding, red and sore looking hand.
"What did you do?" he asked, frowning as he walked back to her.
"Grabbed onto a prickle bush." She howled in pain.
"Let me take a look at it." He softly demanded.
"No!" she snapped. "It's fine, I'm fine."
"Dana…?" he trailed off, worried about her.
Standing in the doorway, Mulder looked around the crime scene whilst talking to Clyde Brownman whilst Scully stood in the doorway.
Suddenly Mulder and Mr Brownman were brought out of their conversation by a loud thud coming from the doorway. As they turned around to look at Scully, Mulder noticed her collapsed on the floor and immediately rushed over to her, checking her pulse.
"She dead?" Clyde asked and Mulder looked up at him.
"No, thank god." Mulder breathed, picking up Dana's injured hand, looking at the awful cuts on her hands and the cuts had developed into puffy sore lesions.
