Chapter 1(forks Washington)-BPOV
"Momma, where are we going?" I heard victor my son ask me while we got in the taxi. "Far off….. Into a better place, where we'll be happy every day."I sigh. "Where to miss?" the taxi driver called. "Uhh. To the nearest airport please, and as fast as possible." I hurried in. the ride wasn't that quiet, Vic kept singing to his favorite songs from the veggie tales movies. The ride was short, since we didn't live that far from phoenix, but in the outer parts of the city. As we boarded the airplane, I felt relieved, but ashamed of what I had done. But there were no turn backs. This was the best option I had, even if I separated my son from his father, I hope he will understand when he knows the truth, the story behind all this mess. And we'll be heading towards a place far away from the past, and to create a better future, hopefully.
A couple of hours in a plane with a five year old kid was something I will, never risk again unless it's an emergency, like so. We were once again in a taxi. "Where are we now, momma"
"you'll see, I'll tell you when we get there, you're gonna meet new and wonderful people, you're gonna love 'em… and the place."I added nervously.
We were there in a few minutes, finally there. The sign there read "welcome to forks, Washington" the only part of the phrase that told me I was away from my past and troubles, or so I thought. "We're here hun" I whispered to my sleeping baby. "Where!!...wait why is it so dark, momma? So much trees, where is my sun." I was afraid that he would ask me this; even if that was the same message my brain gave me. It was going to be a hard start, Vic loved the sun and its warmth, he hated rain. But forks was the only place I could go, my family was living in Canada, and I had friends here, back from high school, and I could stay at their place, while I look for a job and a place to live for me and my son. "Umm...well, Vic. This is forks Washington; we're going to be here for a while, with friends. Ok Hun?" I gave him a quiet unsure hug, trying to make both of us more comfortable. "c'mon" I tried to pull him a bit to make him move towards the simple and small two story house. It was impossible to find beautiful luxurious houses here in forks, since its small and doesn't really attract many tourists. The house was a creamy colored blue with a nice garden and simply beautiful. We were here… at Angela's house. A new place to start a new life. I just hope she isn't bothered by me just showing up. I didn't really call anybody to tell them what had happened. We got out of the taxi right after I payed the driver. I felt the soft mushy grass, it was obvious that it had rained not so long before we had got here but, I did enjoy the smell of wet dirt. It was the only thing here that made me feel content; the rest just bothered me not letting me enjoy my time here. Since you can barely play outside sports, with the unpleasantly cold weather. It was going to be hard for both of us for sure. I thought as my son and I walked toward the front door of Angela's house, I tried really hard not to slip. I want used to the wet floors as much as I used to, when I lived here with my parents. I could see Vics's face of pure nervousness, he didn't know where he was or why exactly. We got to the front porch and ringed the door bell; we could hear the soft ringing noise it made, echoing in the inside. I hoped she was home, I didn't want it to start raining and our luggage to get wet, that was sitting the stairs, or Vic to get sick. No one answered. I rang the bell another two times. I heard footsteps coming down from up stairs, that's how quiet the place was. Then the door opened. To see a familiar smiling face receiving us, gave me a wave of relief.
