The Miguzi Project

Author's Note: I have quite fond memories of watching the Miguzi block on Cartoon Network. Though it wasn't as good as Toonami, it wasn't that bad either. Both Code Lyoko and Teen Titans were good shows that aired on it. The interstitials were pretty good, too. I guess you could call this fic something of a labor of love. I hope you enjoy it.
Prologue
Once upon a time…
There were people who could do all sorts of wondrous things. They could make all sorts of machines—robots and supercomputers and other assorted technology. They could also bend and twist the creatures of the earth into astounding shapes, the likes of which no one had ever seen before. They worked under the sea in a giant saucer.
Their mission was to try and find a way to make humans able to survive underwater. But first, they had to see if sea creatures could survive on land. So, they found several of them and warped their genes—and in doing so, mutated them until one could hardly tell of what they had once been. It seemed like things were going quite well.
One day, however, a terrible accident befell the project. All the people died, and only a few of their experiments survived. This was particularly terrible, because all the people had homes waiting for them on the surface. Some even had families. One man in particular had a little girl waiting for him when he got home.
Her name was Erin.
