PROLOUGE
A young girl stood in a courtyard. She wore a green fuku and shoulder length, black hair with an unusual bluish sheen. Her eyes were a beautiful grey that shone like the moon itself. She had an aura of youthfulness and innocence. She was an unusual flower in the world, and as a silver haired youth watched her, he loathed what he was about to do.
He had half a mind to turn around and go back through the portal in the shrine behind him, which would take him back home. But he knew he had to do this. He took in a breath and stepped out of the shadows.
The girl stopped short, apparently noticing the boy's presence. She faced him, a questioning look on her face. Her eyebrows raised in a worried expression noticing the serious look on her friends face. His cute dog ears lay flat against his head, and his unusual golden eyes were dark.
"Inu-yasha…? What is it? What's wrong?"
Inu-yasha's eyes fell to the ground. He couldn't meet her beautiful grey eyes. Long silver bangs fell into his face, covering his eyes. His acute senses could smell her fear and anticipation, and he could practically feel her trembling through his feet.
"Inu-yasha…? Wha---" the girl tried asking again.
His eyes finally hit her with a ferocity the innocent girl had never seen before. She tool a scared step back, trembling even more under the intense gaze of the mysterious gold eyes. And for the first time in her life, she was terrified of him.
"I need you to stay here. Don't come back ever! You hear that?!" his voice rose with each sentence.
Her eyes widened, filled with hurt, and she took another step back, trying to regain her balance. She could feel the tears pricking at the back of her eyes, but fought to keep them at bay.
"W-why…"? She stuttered.
"BECAUSE I'M GOING WITH KIKYO! WHAT DON'T YOU GET ABOUT THAT?! SHE'S THE ONE I WANT TO BE WITH, NOT YOU!! ALL YOU ARE TO ME IS A SHARD DETECTOR! THAT'S ALL YOU EVER WERE! I CARE ABOUT HER, NOT YOU!! AND SHE CAN DETECT SHARDS JUST AS WELL AS YOU CAN, MABEY EVEN BETTER! SO I'M GOING WITH HER! AND YOU BETTER, NEVER, NEVER COME BACK, YOU HEAR?!" he yelled at her.
The girl's eyes widened and seemed to lose their shine. Her legs shook and buckled under her, and she fell to the ground. Her hands came out in front of her to keep her from falling on her face, and her raven black. Her tears spilled over. Everything she feared to hear had just been yelled to her face, and by the man she was in love with, no less. Though she knew one day she would either have to say goodbye herself, or be sent home by one of her friends. But still, having all her fears just yelled in her face left her in a quivering, crying heap.
Inu-yasha cringed. He hadn't meant to shout like that, but his voice had acted of its own accord. He hated seeing her like that, curled up in a ball and crying hard. But he knew it was something that had had to be done. He turned around, bangs covering his eyes again. "I'm sorry, Kagome," he whispered as he disappeared into the dark shrine that housed the well.
