Preteens With Attitude: New Year's

It was 9 PM of December 31, 2016. The kids were at a party at Ford Music, and it was raining. The party was going well until about half an hour later, when thunder and lightning started and kids started calling their parents to get rides home so they wouldn't have to walk home in the rain and thunder.

The kids called their parents, and Catherine's dad didn't answer, which made her worried. The others tried to reassure her that everything would be fine, and Becca got the idea to ask Alex's parents if they could spend the night at their house. It is New Year's Eve. They said yes and called everyone else again to let them know the plan. They then drove the kids to their houses and everyone got some pajamas and clothes for tomorrow, and then went back to the Ford's house.

The kids went inside the house and Mrs. Ford made them some hot chocolate. Everyone was listening to the thunder that was still going every few seconds, which Catherine and Ethan both admitted to a fear of when the others asked. Catherine said she always thought when there was thunder that it would hit the house and then the roof would start coming down, and Ethan said that he didn't want the power to go out and when he hears thunder he thinks the power will go out. The other kids tried their best to calm down them.

The kids got into their pajamas, and then they started looking in the closets for spare pillows, blankets and sheets. They found a bunch within an hour and a half in various closets, and once they found enough for everyone, Alex gave Catherine and Becca permission for them to sleep in his room and he went into Ethan's room with Ethan and Daniel.

The boys went into Ethan's bedroom and then remembered that Ethan was ten years old. This means he has a messier room than the rest of them, because he still has toys. They helped Ethan clean his room by moving the toys all into a corner and then the lay out their blankets and pillows.

In Alex's room, Catherine was still having a hard time falling asleep from the thunder. Becca figured the answer to this was to just distract her. Becca found Archie comic books and the girls started reading.

At 11 PM, all the kids didn't want to go to bed, because it was New Year's Eve. They went to make popcorn and turned on the New Year's countdown. Everyone got an average sized bowl of air popped popcorn and settled in to watch the countdown with each other, their blankets, and Catherine's stuffed cat named Honey and Ethan's stuffed bear named Danny that he got for Christmas.

An hour later, the kids counted down to midnight and celebrated the start of 2016. They went to sleep by one in the morning.
