A/N Not really sure what this will become. I'm on vacation, and just writing whatever comes to mind.

"Hey," his warm voice says as he kissed her cheek. "You look amazing."

"Thanks," the petite girl says, looking at her reflection in the window that overlooked the booth they were sitting in. Her own worried eyes looked back at her.

She forced a smile. "Happy birthday! Take a look at the menu, you can have whatever you like, my treat of course."

"Damn right it's your treat," he said, smiling. But she knew it was for the passing waitress who wore a confused smile and Bertucci's nametag.

"Hi, my name is Melina, and I will be your waitress tonight. Can I start you off with something to drink?"

"Um, yes, I'll have…" he perused the drinks menu and pointed to the house white wine. She couldn't help but inwardly gasp at the price.

"May I see some ID sir?" He smiled as he help up a fresh fake driver's license that put him at 21 years, 4 months, 3 days. She knew, he made her memorize in case she was ever asked to verify.

"And for you miss?"

"Oh, um, just a water please. With lemon." Melina wrote it down and left them.

"So…quaint place for my seventeenth birthday, but I supposed it'll do. What do you think you're gonna have?"

"I don't know, maybe the pizza? I used to get it all the time when I was a kid."

"But you're not a kid anymore! Pizza? You're sixteen years old, not six! Act like it! Besides, the cheese is loaded with fat. You have no idea how fat you'd get! I can't have fat girlfriend, can I?

"No," she answered slowly. "And I always want to be your girlfriend. Forever."

"Of course. That's all I wanted to hear." He turned his attention back to the menu.

"Omigod! Claire? Is that you?" A thin, dark-haired girl stood in front of their table, her arms around an equally gorgeous boy.

The girl turned to face Claire's date. "And Cam! You guys are still together?" she asked. Claire nodded sullenly, then, spotting Cam's raised eyebrows, added, "Why wouldn't we be?"

"Well, I don't know, its just been so long." her voice trailed off and they sat in silence before Alicia's date cleared his throat pointedly.

"Oh! Well, this is Eric. Eric, this is Cam and Claire. They've been dating since seventh grade! Can you believe it?"

"Well, when you really love each other, is there a time limit?" Cam pondered, glancing at Claire in a way that sent shivers down her spine.

"Of course not!" Alicia said, excitedly. "Well, we better go. It was good seeing you." She gave Claire a quick hug and then she and Eric left, looking simple in love.

Dinner passed slowly. After the check arrived with a kind, "No hurry," from Melina, Claire pulled out her Louis Vuitton wallet. Sorting through the cash she had, she sighed and pulled out her mom's American Express credit card. "Whenever you get in a pinch. It doesn't have to be an emergency necessarily, but don't you dare overuse it." Grudgingly, she laid it on the table. Melina can back and put the $127 charge on the card.

Later, Claire cried. Her only relationship turned sour once they hit high school. But she was too afraid to leave. She missed her old friends, her family, her old life.

But could she leave?

A/N Oh, this sucked. It's way short and kind of stupid. But I hate Clam. This might become a threeshot. I'll think on it.
