Chapter 2: Halves on a Kid

Harm and Mac watched Harriet and baby AJ be driven away in the ambulance. Mac watched kind of sadly. She was glad that Harriet and AJ were okay, but this just made her feel more like that's what she should be doing. With Harm. Whoa, where did that come from? She couldn't admit that she had feelings for Harm-it was unethical. She couldn't...

"Hey, Mac. Are you okay?" A concerned Harm asked his partner. She'd been staring off into space, looking kind of sad in spite of the happy situation. She looked at him, smiling sadly.

"Yeah, I'm okay. It's just- seeing a woman younger than me start her family, have a baby, just makes me more aware that I keep hitting the snooze button on my own biological clock. I want a family, Harm." She said quietly, looking at her shoes. Harm looked at her. Wow, she was beautiful, even when she was sad like this. Harm started thinking of his own children- the ones that would someday exist. They were beautiful, with dark brown hair and- what was this? Brown eyes? How did he have children with brown eyes? Oh, god. He loved Mac's wonderful brown eyes. He loved her brown eyes...oh,geez. He was fallling in love with Mac? He was falling in love with Mac. Wow.

"Hey Mac, uh. Oh, man." She looked at him strangely. He was stuttering, which was very not him. She raised an eyebrow, looking at him inquisitively.

"What is it Harm?" She finally asked after waiting 32 seconds for him to spit it out.

"Well, why don't you and I have a baby?" Mac gaped at him. Was he kidding? No, he wouldn't kid about something like this. She moved her mouth open and closed several times before finally replying.

"Wh-wh-what? You and me? Have a baby together? But,Harm...would you be doing it because you feel sorry for me, or do you really want a baby?" She asked. Harm looked mischeviously into her eyes.

"Well, actually I want you and a baby with you." He said, and looked away from her quickly. He was afraid of her reaction. Instead of the slap or yelling at that he expected, she closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. He hugged her back, and whispered in her ear, "I think that I'm falling for you, Sarah." She hugged him tighter, whispering back,

"I love you. What do you want to name our baby?"
