Just a one shot of Teddy Lupin looking over the graves of those lost. Spoilers for DH

please R&R

When Teddy Lupin looks at his father's grave he doesn't think of how we died, but of how he lived. It wasn't that he didn't know how either of his parents had died, but Teddy thought that although they died like heroes the life they lived was just as important. Teddy knew all about his father's incident as a young boy. It was the reason Teddy was so grouchy during the full moon, and would only eat is meat very rare.

Teddy's parent's graves lay with the others who had fought and died valiantly in The Battle of Hogwarts. Their graves seemed hidden among far too many others who had died protecting the school they loved. Like the grave next to Remus Lupin's, Lavender Brown. She died at the age of seventeen because of a man was so barbaric he couldn't even wait for the full moon to kill. Teddy had often seen Bill Weasley visit Lavender's grave, although Bill never knew Lavender, but he too had fallen prey of Mr. Greyback. Bill often wishes that it could have been his grave and not Lavender's

Teddy's mother is with Remus' even after death; they died together and will stay that way always. Teddy always thought his mother a true Hufflepuff. She had loved his father and stayed loyal to him in till the very end.

Next to his mother's grave rests Teddy's namesake. Ted Tonks was killed before Teddy had even been born. Ted's burial had been delayed in till others who had fallen by the hands of death eaters could join him. It was one of the worst things in the world to know for sure that there would have been more.

Even if Andromeda was no longer a Black Sirius would always be one. After Sirius's name had been cleared his memorial stone joined the graves. Wormtail's memorial stone had been destroyed the same day that Sirius had been claimed a hero.

Teddy often saw Draco Malfoy crying over the graves whispering sorry to the graves. Draco had lived with Teddy and Andromeda while his parents had been in in Azkaban. Teddy had been younger then, but he understood that Draco felt it was his fault that these people where dead. Once Teddy had even seen Draco fall to his knees begging the family he never knew for their forgiveness. Teddy understood how it felt to never know the good honest people who could have been in his life, but what he would never understand was why Draco chose to live a life without them.

Many people where lost in The Battle of Hogwarts and Teddy would get to know the loved ones of those lost as well as his own "family". On his daily visit to the graveyard he would exchange stories of the bright happy lives those who now lay silently had lived. Although Teddy had never encountered any of his stories first hand he knew them all by heart. And now he knows the stories of everyone else in the graveyard too. Teddy doesn't believe in Heaven. But he does believe that the ones who lie in the graveyard are safe and happy. He believes that he and the others are watched over by them. And he understands that they died to make his world the way it is, a safe happy place for everyone who is one day willing to leave it.
