They were captured and made to fight for their lives. Normal they would get out of a sitution like this easily, but they were losing faith. It was when he got dragged in front of the team, that he knew he wasn't going home. He looked her in the eyes and said "I love you." that was his goodbye.
The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself
She took it the hardest. It was her mission, her lead, her choice of destination. They watch as she withdrew and they let her, for there was no going back this time. She broke it off with her fiance and barely held a surprised face when she had vistors. She did her job and did it well but she was lost forever with out him.
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
She fell into a routine in which alcohol replaced him and that megawatt smile never appeared again. When she woke up she drank, at night she'd drink some more. It got worse over time and they slowly realised she had changed not just withdrew. He was her life, the reason she breathed.
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind
Until the night, She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger And finally drank away his memory
Everything in her life involved a memory of him. To his name on his old locker, to the Simpsons, to her team, even the sight of cake brought her pain. But she finally stop being haunted by her mistakes and regrets and joined him.
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
She had one to many then some and when she saw the photo, she knew what to do, to find herself again and that smile once again graced her face. She went to him because he had loved her.
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby
