A/N: Just another quick ONE-SHOT, written for the lj community's trick or drabble. Don't know where this all came from and it certainly wasn't the path I wanted to take it, but well... here goes. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: Still don't own anything. :(
The door to 2J swung open and slammed into the opposite wall. Logan, James, and Kendall are talking animatedly as Carlos waltzes in behind them, slowly, arms wrapped around his stomach.
"Guys, I'm starving! Kendall, did your mom leave any food on the table?"
The three simultaneously look toward the kitchen. No food on the counter, just a piece of paper.
Logan takes it an reads it aloud.
Boys,
Had to run. No time to cook dinner. There's microwavables in the freezer. Be back late. BE GOOD!
Love,
Mama Knight
The boys glance at each other for a few moments before all of them dash to the freezer. Kendall gets to the door first and pulls out a box of fishsticks, but Carlos knocks it away and pulls out a box of corndogs.
"Carlos, what the-?" Kendall starts when the box of fishsticks was knocked out of his hand.
That was the fastest any of them had ever seen Carlos move. Before any of them could protest having corndogs for dinner, Carlos had the entire box set out on plates and the first batch in the microwave.
James and Logan turn to Kendall, put their hands up in surrender, and take their seats at the dining table. Kendall shrugs, picks up the box of fishsticks, places it back in the freezer, and joins James and Logan at the table.
In hushed whispers the guys try to think of reasons as to why Carlos loves corndogs so much.
Beep!Beep!
Carlos pulls out the first batch and places the second batch into the microwave. He hungrily picks one up and immediately drops it. "Ahhh!"
Logan, James, and Kendall fly off their seats for an inch before glaring knowingly at Carlos.
"It just came out of the microwave, of course it'll be hot," Logan explains condesendingly.
Carlos returns the glare with his version of the evil eye.
Beep!Beep!
Carlos breaks his glare and turns to pull out the second batch and place the last and final batch into the microwave.
"Ow!" Kendall quietly exclaims. James had taken this distraction to nudge Kendall.
"You should ask him," James mouths.
Kendall shakes his head no.
"Come on, please," Logan pleads.
"No, I'm not going to ask hi… im," Kendall halts as a plate of corndogs is placed in the center of the table.
Carlos knows, but loves seeing his friends squirm. "Ask who what?"
The three exchange nervous looks.
Beep!Beep!
"I'll get it!" Logan yells and sprints off to the kitchen.
Carlos shrugs and takes his seat, eyeing Kendall and James daring them to spit it out.
James takes the bait. "What's the deal with corndogs? I mean why is it such a deal breaker?" he blurts out.
Kendall gives him the oh-my-gosh-i-can't-believe-you-just-said-that glare as Logan returns with the last two batches.
Carlos smiles as he remembers the first time he tasted the carnival treat, but he wasn't going to share that memory with just anyone, so he lies.
"Sparky," Carlos responds.
Kendall, James, and Logan's mouths all drop.
Carlos knew the lie did the trick and he reaches for one of the corndogs and begins to fill his hunger.
"But… isn't that a form of cannibalism?" Kendall ponders aloud.
It's now Logan's turn to give the death glare.
Carlos chuckles. "What do you mean?" he asks with a twinkle in his eye as he takes another bite.
