Because I couldn't get the clip out of my head and this is how I hope they react. :3
Pairing: Borra, slightly fluffy
Rating: T (cause of my swears :3)
Summary: Bolin watches in awe as Korra kicks some major ass. (off of the clip that was released.)
welp, I didn't proofread this or anything, so if it's crap, well, oop. and yeah, I ignored the brother-thing for the most part 'cause I don't want to make something up and be terribly, terribly wrong.
The two brothers stared out on the arena as they went up on the stone lift. The pain in Bolin's shoulder was evil, and he definitely would need it to be popped back in place once this whole failure was over.
Bolin was vaguely aware of the announcer and he just blinked back into focus just in time to hear:
"What an unbelievable effort here by Korra! She's dodging every single element the Wasps throw at her!" It was true. And she said that her airbending lessons weren't clicking, Bolin thought affectionately, watching his best friend weave in and out of each of the attacks with a slight smirk on his face. At his side, Mako had let out a depressed sigh and when he looked over to his brother, his eyes were closed and he was looking down. Bolin rolled his eyes, but he could not help but agree with the firebender - Korra was relatively new, she would most likely not be able to win this for them.
"The Avatar finally gains some ground, but with only ten seconds remaining, it might be too little, too late!" He inhaled sharply when she sent the firebender back to Zone Three, and his eyes went wide when he saw that she had the three of them lined up one after another. No. She's not…
Sure enough, three simoultaneous grunts fill the air as all three of the benders are knocked out in one perfect row. The ringer sounds.
Bolin stops breathing. Mako's eyes snap open.
"It's the big kaboj(?)! What a knockout!" And cue the screaming fans.
A beat passed. The bending brothers turned to each other, each with similarly shocked expressions. The younger of the two let out a bloodcurdling, very fangirl-ish screech and jumped up in the air, not even taking note of the unadulterated pain in his shoulder. "She did it! She won it Mako!" He yelled, giggling in glee.
"Yeah. She did, didn't she?" Mako murmured, looking shell shocked and slightly out of focus as he stared down onto the spectacular girl standing in the middle of the arena. Normally Bolin would snap him out of it, but he was entranced with the sight of Korra jumping about in excitement. She won it for us. She really pulled through when we couldn't, Bolin thought, cheering loudly along with the rest of the crowd. He ripped his helmet off as they were soon allowed to walk out beside her and get the praise that they really didn't have a right to.
Bolin ran at her and, despite the pain in his shoulder, wrapped her up in a one-armed hug. "You are amazing, Korra." He murmured into her neck, not caring about all the crap that had happened in the past week. "And I'm sorry I gave up so quickly." He added, almost hoping that she would not hear that part. A moment passed and she returned his hug without harming his bad shoulder and his heart fluttered just a bit. She leaned away from the hug after a moment and she smiled warmly at him, her eyes bright with excitement and pride. It took everything in him to not kiss her right then.
Maybe things will be okay, he thought, grinning back at her before taking her hand and raising it up in front of everyone. Not that the crowds needed any encouragement. He'd be deaf tomorrow.
