Okay, so here is my first shot at writing a story with a more serious tone. Don't worry, I'll get back to the funny stuff! But for right now, enjoy...
"W-wha?" He shook his head, not knowing where his brain was for the last minute. Tails looked around the cockpit of his ship, secretly awestruck at the flashing technology inside. As the fox swung his head to another side, he probably thought some primitive planet would think that this was far more advanced than they could comprehend. They probably wouldn't be able to understand what any of it means either.
The sound of one of his wingmates jolted him back to reality. "Tails! Are you all right?"
Tails responded back. "Yes, I'm fine. Just zoned out for a second."
Another, more elderly and annoyed, voice came on the intercom. "There's no time for "zoning out", kid. This guy is serious."
"Sorry." He then flew toward a giant hole in the ground, leading to the center of the planet. "You guys head back. I'm going in."
"BY YOURSELF? But Tails..." A feminine voice protested
"Listen, kid. Your granddad went down at the hands of the lunatic, and your old man barely survived the ordeal! You don't know how this guy works!"
"I'm sorry, but I have to do this. He's gotta go down one last time, and it's better at my hands than yours."
"Your ship, you mean." The elderly man corrected.
"Right. I'll see you guys later!" Tails then dived down the hole and disappeared inside before anybody could say otherwise. "... I hope... No no, Tails. Now's not the time for Mr. Timid to come out. It's time for the true hero inside instead." Still, the 15-year-old kit couldn't help but feel nervous right now. But he pressed on through the labyrinth to the center.
With no contact with his team or any guidance, it took pure instinct to find his way though. All of a sudden, through the creepy, metallic hallways, he heard a grating voice.
"I've been waiting for you, Miles." On the inside, he was startled and felt like cowering, but outside, he remained cool and collected, something his father taught him.
"So he is here after all." He remembered fighting the robot clone instead of the actual being. Toward the end, he was reminded of an old movie he watched during his younger years.
"You have went through many of my minions in an attempt to reach me. It will be disappointing for your little blue rat of a friend to discover your imminent death."
Tails knew who the voice was talking about. "Don't mock Sonic! He knows I can beat you. He always did!" Tails then calmed down, knowing the voice was just trying to get inside his head. "Nice try, buddy. But your going to need to do better than just messing with me to beat me."
The fox then reached the end of tunnel, leading into what he thought would be molten lava and extreme heat, but instead found a weird, yellowish-purplish sea of colors. It looked more like a weird kaleidoscope than a planet core. Then, the enemy appeared in front of him. The features were unmistakeable, and looked just the way his father described. An old, ugly face. Gnarled, disembodied hands. A sense of pure evil in the air.
"Andross."
The giant head than spoke. "Your bloodline may be of bold flight skills, but it won't be any match for my genius!"
The teen heard this speech before from an old foe many times. "We'll see about that, Andross." He said boldly, clutching the leather joystick tighter, ready to fire at any moment.
"Miles McCloud, son of the legendary Fox McCloud, prepare to DIE!"
So there it is. I hope you like it. As you can see, Andross has been resurrected once more and it's up to Tails to stop him! It's based off one of the endings in Star Fox: Command. The next few chapters contain the backstories of the new Star Fox team. Please review and, (for the love of stars) no flames. Stay tuned for more!
