A/N: A poem written in Erik's POV, to Christine, as he tells her why they should stay together…
You are the Flickering Flame Atop the Candle…
Erik
You are the flickering flame atop the candle…
So easily extinguished,
And yet so very powerful.
With one dying wind you can be taken from me,
But in one second you can burn me so badly.
I want to protect you from all harm,
But I'm afraid; you can so easily scorch the hand which shelters you.
You are the flickering flame atop the candle…
You are the ivory keys atop the piano…
You can so easily be manipulated,
To produce the richest of music.
But without the ebony keys you are so very much alone.
I am the ebony keys, Christine,
There is only so much you can do without needing me.
But with one wrong note, we could clash so badly.
You are the ivory keys atop the piano…
You are the porcelain surface of my mask…
You are moulded to fit me so perfectly,
You were made to always be with me.
Christine, you would be so alone without me,
Though it is you who protects me from harm,
It is I whom you need to be whole.
But people are so quick to rip you away from me.
You are the porcelain surface of my mask…
You are the flickering flame atop the candle…
You are the ivory keys atop the piano…
You are the porcelain surface of my mask…
You are the other half of me…
You are the other half of me…
