Don't Matter
In the briefing room the senior officers were assembled and were waiting for the Captain and Lt. Paris to start the meeting. Normally Paris will be one of the last to enter, but never the Captain. The Captain, and Tom entered together holding hands. I just raised an eyebrow at this. They both sat down and the Captain conducted the meeting as usual. Then she and Tom got up and together held hands and said.
"We wanted to you guys to know first, we are dating." They said in unison. At this B'Elanna got up and left the room in a huff. Seven got up and congratulated them then left. The Doctor looked hesitant but just got up and left the room. Harry looked and Tom and then the Captain and left looking hurt. Chakotay looked livid.
"Kathryn, you can't be serious. You are dating this womanizer. He is not worthy of you. He dumped B'Elanna and not even two weeks later he goes out with you. Can't you see that he is just using you!!!?"
"Chakotay calm down, me and Tom know what we are doing."
"Chakotay I love Kath since the moment I saw her at the age of seven. She is the love of my life. I loved B'Elanna, don't ever doubt that, but I fell out of being in love with her. There is a difference. I have always loved Kath; I just never realized how much I loved her until now. Loving someone is like crazy, wanting to be with them every day. Worrying if something wrong happens and they end up in the hospital. To be there with them when they need to talk or just need someone to lean on. Nothing else matters but them, that and more is how I feel about Kath."
"Oh Tom!"
"Fine, but just know that I am not thrilled with this one bit. Tom you will have to seriously prove to me that you are worthy of her." With that said Chakotay left the room.
I just took it all in and left after the Captain and Tom did. They eventually filled the crew in on them dating. They crew became divided some like Naomi was all for them being together, others like Chakotay were against it. But that all changed when the Captain became injured in an away mission and Tom had to climb down a mountain side with a med kit to stabilize her so they could get a proper fix on her and him. They beamed them directly to sickbay and the doctor and Tom went straight to work and found out that she would need a blood transfusion and Tom offered because he was a universal donor. They transfused the blood and were able to bring the Captain out of her coma. When the crew and the Commander got the whole report they saw that Tom would really go to great lengths to keep the Captain alive and well. The skeptics finally rested and the Captain and Tom were fully accepted by the crew.
I just watched it all with disinterest. Vulcans do not show emotions. I am just happy that my long time friend seemed finally happy. I of course knew that she and Tom knew each other before Voyager. I have a feeling that they will survive anything that life here in the Delta Quadrant throws at them. But I must rememind you all that I am a Vulcan and Vulcans do not show emotions.
An: Well I hope you like Don't Matter. I thought I would be fun to do it in Tuvoks POV, but not telling you about it until the end. Though I did give you all a hint.
