1- The Decision

Lanaitza sprinted through the forest, the shadows trailing behind her. She turned and threw a gust of air at the wall of flame but it continued to chase her. She stretched her hand out in front of her, reaching for the light of the clearing. The moonlight tickled her fingers touching them gently, telling her it would be alright. She sighed. If only she could give in to that urge. The urge to fly. To fly higher than anyone had ever flown before. Even Skulduggery. She had heard of his newfound ability but she wasn't jealous, she could do anything he could. The flames were still following her and she was getting bored so she decided to burrow. Lanaitza dove into the ground. She usually hated the feeling of the cold dirt surrounding her but today it was soothing. She'd had a hard day. She'd accidently killed her boyfriend. When she'd killed him he hadn't been her boyfriend. He'd just dumped her. He'd been scared of her power. The power of a true name.

Skulduggery had warned her that power was addicting. He had been right. She loved it. Skulduggery loved it too he just didn't want to admit it. Lanaitza wasn't evil like Lord Vile though, on a good day. Harriet had been evil. Pathetically evil, it was embarrassing to be her true name. Maybe it was thoughts of Harriet that put her in a bad mood. Stupid, fat waddling Harriet. Of course Lanaitza had had to do some remodelling. This world was ugly, ugly disposable junk. No! She couldn't keep thinking that and give into Harriet. Lanaitza burst from the ground, shaking the dirt from her hair. She flew up and over to a nearby lake. The water reflected the moonlight off her fiery red hair. "I'm hot." She said out loud then burst into tears. Since when had she cared if she was hot or not? She was Lanaitza, girl of power, girl of victory. No one remembered her though. She had to take their memories, even Skulduggery's. Valkyrie had taken Lanaitza's place now. Well maybe she wanted it back!

Skulduggery was hers, the only man she'd ever loved. And he had loved her. She was certain of that. She sifted through the memories of his she'd copied or stolen. She saw herself through his eyes. How she was strong and proud and…. a child. He had seen her as a child. She was older now. She could be his, he could be hers. PHYSCO! Her subconscious screamed in her head.

"I'm insane." She laughed, speeding towards Dublin to find Skulduggery.

A/N- That was the end of Chapter 1. I know it seems odd right now but please tell me what you think.
