'Will the lying stop?'
Author's Notes: Just a random idea I came up with. Pairing is Gwys. Don't ask me why I came up with this, I just did. Set around the beginning of series two, before Gwen tells Rhys about Torchwood. Thinking about the real reason why Gwen tells him. Hope it turns out okay.
Summary: The situation about Torchwood had been bothering Gwen since she started there. Every day she left the house to go to work. The work that she can't tell Rhys about. Whenever he asked her, she had to make up an excuse so she doesn't tell him. Not the best way to have a healthy relationship.
Gwen awoke with a start at the sound of her mobile beeping. She had long since regretted giving Jack her mobile number. It was hard to explain to Rhys why she got calls from work at every hour of the morning. Gwen quickly looked over at Rhys; still asleep, Gwen always joked that a bomb falling would never wake him. She quietly climbed out of bed and walked into the living room.
"What's the matter, Jack?" Gwen asked exasperated, looking at the time; 4.30 am.
"Weevil sighting, Toshiko needs you at the Hub." Jack replied.
Gwen could tell that he was grinning.
"You're sick, Jack, do you know that?"
"What are you on about?" Jack asked innocently.
"I can practically hear the grin forming."
"And?"
"And, it's sick, I don't know how Ianto handles you."
"Well, he's amazing with his hands." Jack replied, smirking uncontrollably.
"Jack!" Gwen yelled, causing Rhys to stir a little. "Jack." Gwen whispered.
"Why you whispering?"
"Because I don't want to wake Rhys."
"What time will you be at the Hub?" Jack asked, suddenly professional.
"I don't know, I can't just up and leave while Rhys is sleeping, can I?" Gwen hissed.
"So, I take it you haven't told him yet."
"Oh yeah, I can picture it now; 'What is your job, Gwen?' 'Well, Rhys, I work for a secret organisation that hunts down aliens that come through a rift in time that just so happens to run through Cardiff.' What would you say if someone you loved told you that, Jack?"
"Just tell him, Gwen, you know you'll have to eventually."
"I will." Gwen heard Rhys waking up. "Yeah, I'll be there as soon as I can, bye."
"Gwen, tell him."
"No problem, I'll tell Rhys it might be a late one."
"Gwen, that's not what I meant."
"Bye."
"Ok, bye." Jack sighed, before hanging up.
"Gwen, not another late one, can't you leave early?" Rhys moaned as he walked into the living room.
"Rhys, love, I've not even got there yet." Gwen replied softly.
"But I was gonna make tea."
"Sorry, love."
"Nah, it's fine, I guess." Rhys sighed.
Really, I am sorry."
"You having breakfast?" Rhys asked, looking in the fridge for the usual.
"Sorry, I can't." Gwen replied sadly.
"Oh, alright."
Gwen quickly changed and came back into the living room.
"Ciya later, love."
"Ciya."
Gwen quickly kissed Rhys before grabbing her coat and running out the door.
Okay, this has been written for a while now and honestly am not sure where it's going, especially now that Rhys doesn't just know about Torchwood but is a part of it. Anyway please read and review : ) xxxxx
