A/N: This is a poem written in Aerith's point of view, about her reminiscing the day Zack had left her, and wasn't to come back.
There's one or two error in the way she tells it, when she says 'And with [the sword, you were never coming back.' That was put there just because I couldn't think of any other way to put before 'you were never coming back' (to make it flow better). The second one's the way she tells the overall story, as if she knew all along that he was going to die--and I know that even though she's Centra, she doesn't have the power of foresight. I simply wrote it that way because I thought it would be a more interesting perspective, if she knew what was coming. I also do know that the sword came back in the hands of Cloud, which symbolizes the fact that Aerith likes him because he resembled her old boyfriend. But that's another story, and not one that I'm going to tell. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own Final Fantasy VII, or any of the other ideas that came after it. If I did, I could so totally sue your asses if any of you claimed my ideas were yours. But since they're not my ideas, I can't sue worth anything.

I knew it that day when you left
That it would be the very last.
Last of your touch, your smile, your laugh,
Last of seeing the light twinkle in your eyes.

I knew it that day when you left
There would be no more phone calls by night
No more kissing under the trees
No more secrets shared in the dark.

I knew it that day when you left
After the promise that we made
That you never meant to break your word
But fate had broken it for you first.

I knew it that day when you left
You left with your sword by your side
And with it, you were never coming back.
