Title: Hate

Rating: PG-ish

Summary: One can't start. The other can't stop.

Chachamaru is kind to animals, old women, and children.

On the nights of the full moon, she protects Evangeline while she attacks her fellow students.

If she were human, she'd resent Evangeline for forcing her to act against her nature.

But she doesn't.

She was programmed to be kind to all living things. She was programmed to obey a thing that wasn't alive.

At night, computer code whispers behind her eyes.

She doesn't hate, because no one ever taught her how to start.

During the day, Chisame attends school with the same pack of morons she's been stuck with her entire life. She hates them, but does not say it.

After school is over, she goes home and becomes an internet idol. She says she loves her fans, but doesn't mean it.

Her fans love her, though. Sometimes she feels trapped by that.

When she is feeling introspective, she considers that the love they give her is a way of atoning for her hate.

She always hates, because no one ever taught her how to stop.

Sometimes, Chisame catches Chachamaru looking at her.

Most of the time, though, she doesn't.

Chachamaru can see how much Chisame hates. Chachamaru wants to be human.

She wants Chisame to teach her hate.

Chisame isn't sure what to make of this, but it's something to distract her. So she tries to teach Chachamaru what hatred is.

And as Chachamaru learns how to hate, Chisame learns how not to hate.

Neither one is sure when they learned love, but they wouldn't have it any other way.
