It was probably his oblivious, obnoxiously cheerful attitude that attracted everyone to Tamaki Souh. A sort of light, coaxing moths to it, only to meet brief happiness, and the eventual heartbreak. But, those moths would risk it all for those few brief moments to bask in the light, no matter the cost to themselves. This, however, was not the case for Kyouya Outori. He was not a fragile moth set to burn up in the flames of Tamaki--he--was much better then that, much better then the throngs of girls who shamelessly flocked for a chance to cling tightly to the blond's arm.

No, Kyouya was there for a much more dignified reason. Self-preservation. Souh was a valuable connection for his family and in order to maintain the balance, he was forced to befriend him. Which, though not a task one would consider particularly difficult, it was--without a doubt--the most aggravating experience of his life. But, like the true Outori he was, Kyouya had concurred this obstacle as he would any other...with complete self-assurance and dignity.

Though, as much as the buffoon irritated, and aggravated him...Kyouya could not deny that Tamaki had grown on him. He never thought he'd be the type to fall for someone so--so childish. Even now as they sat by the fire he could not understand it. He had always been one to think relationships with anyone were just a means to get in, and get closer to the top. Of course, that is how he was raised. He wracked his brain to find some sense to it, it wasn't in his kiss as some won ton songs might suggest, nor was it that he was particularly irresistible. Kyouya could not be compared to those hormone driven, harpies that came to the host club every day--he was much better then that.

It had to have been something more then that, and as Tamaki shifted against him mumbling quietly against his shoulder; Kyouya figured it out. A small smile crossed his lips; and he softly kissed the top of the blond boy's head. He supposed it was completely inevitable for something like this to have happened...after all

...we make such good company...you and me.
