"Why are you giving me a present on your birthday?"
"I didn't want to wait until Christmas. Just open it."
Ron tore open the wrapping paper and froze in disbelief. "Are these… real?"
Hermione nodded. "They were nearly impossible to find… but well you know that already."
He reverently picked up the two cards, flipping them back and forth in stunned silence. "Ptolemy and Agrippa? I've searched my whole life to find these."
"And now you have the entire collection." Her smile slipped as Ron's face fell. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing... I…nothing." He kissed her. "Thanks, love. G'wan, open yours now."

"He didn't like them, Harry."
"Sure he did," Harry reassured her.
"No… he didn't even put them in that book with the others."
Sighing, Harry put his arm around her. "Look Hermione… he'll kill me if he finds out that I told you."
"Told me what?
"He sold them. His entire card collection."
"Whatever for?"
"To buy that bottle of perfume that he gave you for Christmas."
"But that was over two years ago. Why would he do that?"
"Guess he found something more important. Even way back then."
Hermione looked up at him startled.
Harry chuckled. "Happy Birthday, Hermione."
