Hiro's mind was made up as she approached Shikamaru, there was absolutely no way she would turn back now, she had to tell him what was on her mind. She was stubborn like that and she admitted to herself that she perhaps wasn't the brightest girl in her class, but at least she was smarter than Uzamaki Naruto, and had scored in the top fifteen of her class.
She flushed bright red with embarrassment as she approached him, ducking her head and hiding it behind the collar of her hoodie. She began to fidget as she approached the napping ninja, they had been close friends as children but had slowly drifted apart after he'd been given his squad, she saw him occasionally around town and whenever they met up again managed to reconnect.
She paused in her tracks as she watched him napping peacefully frozen to the spot and thinking over how to word what she was going to ask him. This is to embarrassing… way to embarrassing she shook her head no I've got to do this. With her mind made up she approached him and he rolled his head over lazily to look up at her, his dark eye slowly opening.
"Hey, joining me for a nap?" He asked her casually he paused yawning, "I suppose you just got back from your last mission right? It's nice that we're both on break together." He added, in all honesty he missed spending time with Hiro, they used to be as close as siblings before he was put under Asuma sensei.
Hiro smiled and flushed cheekily rubbing the back of her neck that was burning and she struggled to force her blush back, "S-sure but before we do that there's something I've got to ask you." She said refusing to go back on what was on her mind.
Shikimaru sat up and regarded his long-time friend, and came to a sudden realisation. It was something he'd always been aware of on some level, but because she was so different than the other girls he'd sort of forgotten that Hiro was a girl. She didn't chase after Sasuke like Ino or Sakura, or any boy for that matter, could hardly tell the difference between lip gloss and lip stick and was actually dedicated to becoming a ninja. And here his female friend was standing before him awkwardly like Sakura in front of Sasuke.
"Hm… ask away." He answered though he supposed he already knew what she was going to say.
"W-well you know how you're always going on about how girls are troublesome right?" Hiro asked him as if to test the water for what she was going to ask next.
He frowned this was going exactly where he thought it was going, "Yeah, girls are troublesome. What about it?" he asked.
"Eh? Oh um-" Hiro started her face now red, she made her frustrated face and stomped her foot down on the ground in irritation. Her eyes became hardened in determination and Shikimaru sat on the grass dreading the worst-she was going to confess to him.
However, he was utterly shocked by what came out of her mouth next, "I need you to teach me how to not be troublesome! There's this guy I like and you know me I'm the most un-girly girl there is in Konoha and he only likes girly girls!" she exclaimed in an embarrassed rush.
"I'd be torn to shreds by Ino and Sakura, I'd probably snap and beat the living daylights out of them! Please Shikiamru you've got to teach me how not to be troublesome!" She exclaimed and flushed and even brighter red. Shikimaru stared at her for several long minutes and she stared back, their faces both of shock and absolute terror like watching someone call Chouji fat.
Shikimaru cleared his throat first finding his voice, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down, "W-" he started but Hiro found her voice.
"N-never mind it was stupid just forget about it!" She exclaimed waving her arms before her so fast they were reduced to a blur.
