"Come on Jace!" Jinx called.
Jace took off after the dark haired girl.
The two ran around the gardens of the Wayland manor.
Jace stopped dead in his tracks when he noticed where they were headed. "No Jinxy!" he yelled.
"Oh come on you coward! They're just ducks", she said.
"You know I'm afraid of them", Jace said.
"But you're the fearless Jace Wayland", Jinx said.
"Jace!" a voice snapped.
The two children stopped what they were doing.
A man with platinum hair walked up.
Jinx found it hard not to be scared of Mr. Wayland.
Jace stood at attention like a good little soldier.
"Jace, say goodbye to your friend", Mr. Wayland said.
"Bye Jinxy", Jace said. He kissed her cheek before his father could drag him away.
That was the last time she saw him.
"Mama, where did Jace go?" she asked her mother.
"I don't know sweetie", she said, "Michael decided to leave Idris and take Jace with him".
It was then that Jinx began to plot a way to find Jace.
She trained hard and took all the Marks she could.
When she turned 16, she managed convince a warlock to help her.
"What would the Clave say if they knew their golden girl was consulting a Downworlder?" he taunted.
She whipped out a seraph blade and said, "Just do the spell".
The warlock did and said, "He's in New York City. At the Institute run by the Lightwood's".
Jinx thought it was weird that the Lightwood's had been allowed to live, but her thoughts were on getting back to Jace.
The warlock created a Portal for her and she hopped through.
She glamoured herself and went to the only place she knew in New York City, Central Park. She sat by the lake absent mindedly drawing designs in the water with her stele. She felt someone sit beside her. "So the great Jace Wayland braves Central Park for a girl", she said turning to him with a smirk.
Jace returned the smirk and said, "Someone once told me that I'm the fearless Jace Wayland".
"Smart-ass", she said.
"I've been told that too", he said leaning in towards her. He suddenly jumped up and yelped.
A duck was waddling towards them.
Jinx burst into giggles as Jace grabbed her arm.
He dragged her to the fountain.
She tripped and Jace caught her, their noses touching. She closed the distance and kissed him.
While Jace was distracted, Jinx drew a love rune on Jace's hand.
He drew back.
"You're not getting rid of me now", Jinx said.
Jace simply smiled and kissed her.
