The day of the stupid Cupid, Happy Valentine's people :)
This is inspired by a story I made for a friend once, using a different anime, and a different storyline. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy the story, and the day it falls in.
"Such a troublesome day," one of them began.
The blonde girl at the counter laughed. "Maybe for you, but I personally love it."
Neji paid the flower girl and looked at his friend. "That's because women don't have to buy anything during Valentine's day."
Shikamaru smirked. "Took the words right out of my mouth."
Ino looked at them, annoyed. "For that, you two are paying full price for these flowers."
Another "troublesome" muttered through Shikamaru's breath, before digging into his pockets for extra cash.
"Thank you, Shika," she said teasingly, just to annoy him.
"You two say hi to Tenten and Temari for me, okay?"
"Later, Ino," Shikamaru replied before leaving with his friend.
As they walked out, they found Naruto staring at the flower shop.
"Hey, it's unusual to see you around here. Does this mean you have a date for Valentine's?"
Naruto looked at the two, half dazed. "Oh, Shikamaru, Neji, um, I was just thinking about...actually don't worry about it." He tried to grin and get them to ignore it.
The two, however, already had other plans.
"Just so you know," Neji began, "She would love roses and white lilies."
Naruto looked at him, confused. "What are you talking about? I was just having a look at the –"
"I'm sure," Shikamaru interrupted, smiling.
"Go buy whatever Neji just told you. Just don't pull any jokes on Ino."
Naruto raised an eyebrow, but did as he was told.
When he returned, Neji gave a nod.
"You actually got it right."
"Hey!"
Shikamaru laughed. "Alright, continuing on this little lesson on love, chocolates, or sweets should be next on your list."
Naruto nodded. "Alright, I'll be back in a minute."
"Oi, Naruto, don't rush while holding the –"
Too late, Naruto ran off, petals falling from the bouquet that he held.
The blonde stopped, realising what he had done. "Oops."
"Troublesome. Just grab the chocolates, we'll buy you another bunch."
"Sorry, I'll be back as soon as possible!"
Neji and Shikamaru had been waiting nearly half an hour until Naruto finally arrived.
"What took you so long?"
"And where are the chocolates?" Neji added.
Naruto scratched his head in embarrassment. "Yeah, about that. I sort of ran into Chouji and kind of lost track of time, and the amount of chocolates we ate."
Shikamaru sighed. "You didn't buy any more?"
He showed them his empty wallet and gave a defeated look. "I guess Sakura wouldn't appreciate it anyway.
"Of course not, idiot." Shikamaru gave him a frustrated look.
"But these flowers won't be for Sakura."
Naruto looked at them. "What?"
Naruto turned to Neji, slightly confused. Shikamaru had already gone to find Temari, and Neji was just about to do the same with Tenten.
"Are you sure about this? I doubt she even notices me." Naruto followed his friend towards the Hyuga estate.
"Just remember to give her the flowers, and don't act like an idiot."
"Then what? I have no money, remember?"
"Take her to the park, or somewhere out. Don't worry, she will definitely appreciate whatever you do."
Neji began to walk off. "You've already made me late, I'm sure you'll be able to handle yourself."
With a deep breath, Naruto knocked on the door.
When it opened, Hinata was behind it.
"N-Naruto?"
He gave her a smile, and hoped that Shikamaru and Neji were right.
He handed over the flowers making the young girl blush madly.
"I was wondering, did you want to go with me to the park, or something?"
She was a little lost for words, but nodded to answer.
Naruto took her hand. "Great, come on."
As they began to walk off, Hinata looked at the bouquet in her hands and took his arm.
"Thank you."
Naruto looked at her and tried not to grin madly.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Hinata."
End.
