Full Summary: It had been about three months since the heroes of Young Justice were brought together to form their own team when a new face steps onto the scene. Is this new Super a friend or foe though? And how does he know Wally? Here lies the story of Saph Hudson and his journey on discovering who he is, what he stands for, where his powers came from, and who he'll fall for. Eventual WallyXOC but maybe there will be others along the way. Slow, slow, sloooooow burn,

Lame Summary yes, but is anyone ever really happy with theirs?

*Note* This story is probably going to be really, really long, so be prepared when I say slow burn. Also, to anyone reading this, the first seven chapters are from when I originally wrote this, so if you can stick it out through those ones, the quality improves...I hope, or things at least get a little less focused on total teenage cliches.

*Note* While a good portion of the plot will remain the same, I'm obviously not leaving everything the same. For the time being, I'm going to say the biggest example of this is the dating/timeline, as I have no desire to follow it to the tee even though it'd be possible with how Young Justice always gave dates.

Compared to how I originally wrote this in 2011, I edited this chapter a bit and changed around a few things, like Saph's appearance (how I see him now is actually the banner pic for the story,) background and powers and I think I tried to make the story, overall, a little less campy and over the top as the actual show did get serious.

Wally POV

It was the beginning of the second month of my sophomore year of high school, and I would be lying if I said I was happy or close to satisfied with my current position in life. School sucked, there I said it, it sucked and it sucked hard. The teachers had me falling asleep during every lesson, most of them going over things I already knew, the few friends I had here weren't that great of friends to be honest, how could they be when I had to hide a massive part of my life from them? And the days seemed to drag on forever, and god, do I mean fooorrrever! Especially when I thought about all the heroics that could be done instead of listening to some woman with graying hair talking about an outdated and irrelevant novel.

Then there were the problems with the team. I had always been close to both Aqualad and Robin as we had interacted with one another under the lead of our respective mentors, and had developed friendships outside of missions, but my life and interaction with the other three seemed to grow more complicated by the day. Miss Martian seemed to grow fonder and fonder of Superboy as the days passed which led to a certain disdain for him that effected our interaction with one another. It seemed Miss Martian was oblivious to all my displays of affection just as he was oblivious to hers. I tried not to care so much, but when forced to work together with them on a more frequent basis, it was difficult. And then there was Artemis, she was annoying, as usual, but there was this sort of tension growing between us that came close to overflowing with each mission, like the one last night that had us running all over Gotham City.

It had been a tiring night to say the least. I let out a frustrated sigh as I threw my head down against my desk as the first bell of the day rang. I thought I could maybe catch up on my sleep without my English Teacher noticing, but someone just had to go and interrupt my potential sleep, "Morning Wally," a male voice said.

I looked up to find Saph Hudson standing above my desk, looking down at me with his arms folded across his gray knit sweater. "Hello Hudson," I said begrudgingly, glaring at him, "To what do I owe the pleasure? Come to hit on me again?"

Where do I begin with Saph Hudson? Age fifteen, like me, birthday quickly approaching though, has the most clear and striking blue, sapphire really, eyes I had ever seen in my life, is about my height and build but a tad bit smaller, has this weird haircut that's dirty blonde, almost gray in some places, which totally came from a bottle if you ask me, and is gay. No I don't think he's gay, I know he's gay. That's because the kid practically made a point to announce it to the school when he came out Freshmen year before walking around like a proud billboard for homosexuality and confidence. Saph was the type of person, in my mind, to do things whenever he could for the attention, a statement that I felt was reinforced by the small white gauges he sported in his ears as well. To counteract his attention seeking and to wipe that smug look I constantly found on his face, I'd often accuse him of eyeing me or hitting on me just to embarrass him. I didn't have a problem with anyone who wasn't heterosexual, but I did have a problem with cocky assholes, and so if I could take him down a peg, I would.

"Just wanted to make sure you turned in last night's homework," Saph said, "It was a pretty big assignment."

I paled at those words, "We…..we had homework?" I asked.

"Of course," Saph said, "I thought it was clear, it was written rather largely on the board yesterday."

I sat back in my desk as I flashed back to yesterday….hehe…flash…anyway I could see it clear as day now, and realized I had failed to remember to do it, too busy with last night's mission. It's not like I couldn't have done it easily, I mean, a simple English paper is nothing after you're able to recreate and replicate your famous uncle's experiment in a garage to give yourself super powers…it's just…you still have to remember to actually do it. Can you blame a guy though? Who thinks about a dumb paper when he's running around one of the most infamous cities in the world chasing down the bad guys?

"What a shame," Saph said breaking me from my thoughts, "Looks like someone slacked off…..again."

"Beat it," I growled, having enough Saph in my day already.

Saph rolled his eyes and smirked before walking off to his own desk, the rest of the class listening to our teacher drone on as the day began.

It was about twelve hours later, and the team and I had just finished our dinner at a restaurant in Happy Harbor, having decided to venture out of Mount Justice and into town to try and build up some team comradery. We were all heading back to Mount Justice for a little dessert when Aqualad fell into stride behind me, "What seems to be troubling you friend?" he asked.

I looked ahead up at Miss Martian and Superboy, the two linking arms as we walked through the small forest towards one of the cave's entrances. I could tell by his stiffening of his shoulders Superboy didn't know exactly how to react, but he wasn't exactly shoving her away.

"It's nothing," I ground out, "Just stupid stuff."

"I'm sure you could tell me," Aqualad pressed.

I diverted my gaze away from him and away from Miss Martian and Superboy, looking for some assistance from Robin, hell even Artemis, but found they were in deep conversation about how they could equip her with and produce more multi-purpose arrows for her to use in combat.

I let out a sigh and wished at times like these that Speedy, or Red Arrow as he liked to be called now, was on the team, at least he got the whole cold and silent thing. "It's nothing," I ground out again, picking up my pace back to the cave.

The rest of the night passed by uneventfully as we all crowded in together on the couch that was located in front of our massive television screen, eating pie that Miss Martian had cooked earlier in the day. It seemed like she was finally getting the whole cooking thing down, and I was happy for her, but that didn't change the fact that both her and Superboy sat on one end of the couch and I was all the way down at the other, sitting next to Robin.

I was interrupted from my thoughts as Robin wiggled around, "This is the best part," he said eagerly as the music grew silent in the horror film we were watching.

I don't know what was so exciting about it, I mean it was sooooo predictable, the girl with the big boobs was going to open the door and totally get nailed by the ax wielding psycho. I shoved my face full of pie as she slowly twisted the handle for "dramatic" effect. I could just see how her body was going to get mangled but jumped as Miss Martian screamed as the movie vanished and Red Tornado's face popped up onto the large screen.

"Awwww man, you ruined the best part," Robin whined.

"Quiet," Aqualad said as he waited for Red Tornado to speak.

"There seems to be a break in at a department store in Central City, if you access the Zeta-Beam tubing now you should be able to get there and catch the thief," the android's voice buzzed.

"So that's what we've been reduced to?" Superboy seethed, "Small robberies?"

"Who knows Superboy," Miss Martian quickly said, trying to diffuse his temper, "It could be fun?"

"One common criminal between the six of us?" Artemis interjected as she got up, "Yeah, real fun."

"I have a feeling you may get more than you expect," Red Tornado said, "It's been detected that our culprit is exhibiting some rather unique abilities. Go now."

The team quickly got the message that this was no longer just any common criminal and stood, quickly running off to prepare while I remained on the couch. "Coming?" I heard Aqualad ask.

"Of course," I said, quickly whizzing up and off to change. I mean, after a crap day like today, beating around some punk who was messing around in my home town was exactly what I needed, and how much of a challenge could one individual be for all six of us?

Saph POV

I let out a bored sigh as I emptied the last register of its contents and threw the sac over my shoulder, content with the bounty, but not the crime. I had managed to give law enforcement the slip from my first spot of the night and was now on my second. I had finally mastered, or at least thought I did, a control over my powers and fashioned a disguise, but wasn't thrilled given the fact that my creativity had failed me when it came to my costume.

It was a simple dark blue camouflage jacket that I had nabbed off my dad's massive collection, dark blue combat pants, once again, from my dad's collection, that were as equally comfortable as they were flexible, topped off with some black boots and gloves. The key part of my disguise that ensured my identity would be safe had come in the form of some temporary hair dye spray that colored my hair a deep black, that easily washed out, and a thin blue scarf that I had wrapped around my head, concealing my face from my forehead down to the area above my lips, leaving only my mouth, chin and hair visible. I'm sure I looked like some weird, ancient commando mummy of some sorts, and one might question how I could even see, but I didn't much care so long as no one knew who I was, and my sight was covered thanks to my powers.

It all started when I was around the age of eight and my powers began to manifest and show themselves in me. The first had been my control over all things water. I had come into and discovered my powers and control over the water when my parents had taken me to Table Rock Lake for a little vacation. I had been sitting and watching the water slowly and gently crash into the shore of the lake, and almost like it was on instinct I began to mimic the back and forth motion of the water with my hand. Little did I know at the time that the water would respond to my call and control. At first I had been terrified, wondering if there had been something wrong with me, but I soon understood that my control over the water was a power of sorts, like those I had seen used by the heroes on television news reports. With that discovery I had grown terrified for another reason entirely, my parents, but more on that later.

Over time I had come to learn that I could pretty much do anything with water that I wanted to, not mattering whatever state of matter it was in. Ice, Water, Steam, I could control it and use it. Ice was my particular favorite at the moment, as through practice and experimentation I had come to learn that when formed correctly, the ice I produced was almost as hard as solid diamond. It was only recently that my eyes started to come into play as well. With enough trained focus I was able to enhance my line of sight, being able to see farther than the average human, and even through somewhat permeable materials when I concentrated enough. The only downside was that they would literally glow and give off a blue light for a few seconds when initially used or refocused. Thus, this led to the fact that I had the scarf tied around the majority of my face. Even when my eyes weren't glowing they were a rather distinctive shade of blue, and something that could be used to identify me rather easily.

So now, seven years later, I still wondered how I came into these powers. Everyone in my family's history had been human, as far as I knew, and so these gifts seemed to have come out of nowhere; a joke or twist of fate by genetics perhaps. Like I said though, I've kept this all a secret from everyone and have used the past few years to hone my skills and train myself.

Touching back on my family now, the only reason no one knew that I had these gifts, was because of my very, very, VERY anti-super family. I was relieved that my parents accepted my sexuality when I first came out to them at thirteen, but knew they'd never go for my powers. My parents weren't strict so to say, they were more so firm. My father had been in the military for a good portion of his life, just like his father before him, and so on through the lineage. They all seemed to have a great disgust and disdain for anything super power related as they preferred "fighting for themselves" and defending the planet that they viewed as theirs, in their own particular, human way. This line of thinking was what had gotten me placed in a number of self defense and martial arts classes from an early age, an emphasis being placed on practices and styles such as Tae Kwon Do and Tai Chi, the latter aiding in greatly in my control and strength with my water based powers.

"It's all about discipline and determination Saph," my father had said when assisting in my training while growing up, "You can do what you want in life son, but you will know how to fight and defend yourself; it's the Hudson way."

I had remained disciplined and determined not only physically, but mentally and academically as well, and that had allowed me to get a good control over my powers, as well as perfect standing with my parents who would then allow me to do simpler things like change my hair around, or get my ears pierced, and so on, all so long as I kept up to their standards.

However, while I was given freedom over my own appearance, I didn't have the freedom to go out and spend bundles and bundles of cash. Thus I decided that I needed to break out of my perfect little mold and I'd need to be a little villainous to bring in some funds for a much needed wardrobe change and probably some gadgets for water transportation. In case most people didn't notice, water wasn't exactly abundant everywhere you'd go, and I was still training myself on how to pull water right out of the air. Having some water always handy in a belt or something would be nice, so I wouldn't have to spend five minutes pulling only a few drops out of the surrounding air. Aside from those reasons, and perhaps most importantly, I was also doing this just to have a little fun.

Anyway, back to more pressing matters.

I sighed as I flung the sac over my shoulder and proceeded towards the door, but stopped dead in my tracks as I watched six figures burst through the door, blocking my path. My eyes narrowed as I took in the site of the six potential obstacles. I recognized Kid Flash, Robin, Aqualad and figured by the 'S' on his chest, the last boy had some connection or relation to Superman, but the girls...one looked similar to Martian Manhunter...and the other...liked green? "Who's the chick in the green? And...the girl who is green?" I asked, trying to stall to think of a plan. I knew the first three as they had appeared on the news enough as sidekicks of various Justice League members, but the other three were a giant question mark to me.

The girl wearing green growled at the comment and I could tell it must have been a sore subject, which was confirmed as Kid Flash started busting up, "See, even bad guys don't know who you are."

"Well then who the hell is he? And why does he have a scarf tied around his head?" the girl in the green asked before turning directly to me, "How can you even see?!"

"I'm Miss Martian," the green skinned girl suddenly spoke up, almost sounding happy to introduce herself before identifying the rest of the squad in front of me, "That's Artemis, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Robin, and Superboy!"

Kid Flash's laughter from earlier died off as he looked towards the girl I now knew as Miss Martian. "Miss Martian! You're not supposed to tell the bad guys who we are!"

"Oh sorry!" she quickly replied.

As the two do-gooders babbled on, my grip on the bag tightened. "Charmed to meet you, and to answer, Artemis' question, I don't have a name," I said focusing on my eyes, allowing them to see clearly through the scarf again, a satisfied smirk being placed on my face as they seemed to be startled by the glow behind the scarf caused by my eyes, "I prefer to keep my business to myself."

"Well you're our business now," Aqualad said as I started to side step to the right and set a plan into motion.

"Do you even have any powers besides the glowy trick?" Kid Flash taunted, "Or do you just like dressing up like an idiot to rob stores?"

"You'd be surprised," I said, a few inches away from my target.

"Oh really," Superboy called, "Then I suggest you show them and stop wasting our time."

I was surprised by his quick outburst of rage and didn't hesitate as he started charging at me. I quickly kicked the fire alarm switch which caused the alarm to go off and for the fire sprinklers to activate and rain down on us. I grinned and transformed some of the falling water into a wall of pure ice between me and the heroes.

Superboy met it head on and caused several cracks to form in the hard ice. I didn't want to stick around for when he broke through, and so I turned on my heel and started making a break for the back. A few seconds later I heard the ice shatter and was surprised to find Kid Flash running next to me as I tried to escape.

"Hey," he taunted with a smug and somewhat attractive grin.

The fool was unaware that water was still falling and I raised another ice wall that he ran into head on, causing him to fall back into a rack of women's clothes. I laughed as I kept running, raising another ice wall before three arrows could connect with my back. I kicked the back door open and ran outside, stashing the bag of money behind some dumpsters, promising to come back for it later.

"Not so fast," Aqualad said, aquatic weapons raised in the air as Robin and Miss Martian flanked his sides. "You're not going anywhere."

"How typical hero of you," I said, before I used the water in Aqualad's own weapons against the team, sending a strong burst of water at Robin and Miss Martian who were taken off guard and thrown a few feet away. Aqualad growled as he called the water back to his weapons, but before he could I flipped over him and ran off.

"STOP!" Superboy cried as I turned around to see that he, Aqualad, Kid Flash, and Artemis were chasing after me.

"AS IF!" I called back, running through the city streets and into a park, up to a fountain, giving me access to water and means to a weapon to use against the heroes. I gathered a large quantity of water and threw it in a wave at the heroes, deterring them all except for Aqualad and Superboy. Superboy charged forward like a raging bull only for me to trip him up as I changed the water now on the ground to ice, causing him to slide and stumble.

"I'm so not going to jail for my first crime," I said in my head, and prepared myself as Aqualad sent a burst of water from his weapon at me, only for me to gather it up and morph it into a spear of ice. "Like this will ever work against me," I said, trying to sound confident, and not as scared as I was.

I threw the newly formed ice spear back at Aqualad, but didn't let it be known he wasn't my intended target, Aqualad seemed ready to strike down the ice, but was stunned as I shifted the ice back into a fluid liquid state that went between his legs, before shifting it back to ice and connecting with Artemis' side.

"ARTEMIS!" Aqualad cried as the girl in green went down, clutching her side as blood flowed.

"I'm out of here," I said as her team went to her side.

Superboy charged at me, but I hit him with a barrage of water turned-ice and took off while he was stunned by the hit.

Wally POV

"We need to go after him," Superboy seethed.

"No," Aqualad ordered, "We need to get Artemis back to Mount Justice."

I knelt down next to the girl and helped her up as blood continued to drip from the wound. "I'll contact Red Tornado and let him know we're coming." Robin said.

"I still say we go after him," Superboy said.

"I'm responsible for Artemis' injury, and I'm also responsible for this team," Aqualad said, "So what I say goes, and what I'm saying is to make sure everyone one on this team is still on this team an hour from now, so unless you want Artemis to bleed out we're going back to the cave."

Superboy scoffed as he shoved me out of the way and helped escort Artemis back with the others. "Kid Flash," Aqualad called back to me, "The criminal left the bag he was carrying with him behind the store, race back and get it so we make sure no one comes along and collects it."

"Right," I said dejectedly as I looked at the departing group before rushing back to the store.

I was there in no time and was looking around back as the Police and Fire Department's looked around inside for any further trace of the guy. He couldn't have been any older than us and yet here he was, already a common criminal stealing money.

Well that wasn't right to say, he certainly wasn't common if he had control over water, and could elude and escape from all six of us, not to mention how he seemed to be able to see through that piece of cloth. I was somewhat certain that we'd be running into him again.

By the time I had found the bag I was certainly ready to go home after such a shitty day. I stepped out from behind the dumpster the bag was stashed behind, running a gloved hand through my red hair before being punched in the face, dropping the bag and stepping back.

"Thanks for finding this for me babe," the water boy said as he threw the bag over his shoulder, his mouth and black hair the only things visible thanks to the blue cloth.

"Babe?" I cried indignantly, "Get real!"

I was about to charge him when the boy quickly flung some water at me, my hands and feet being incased in ice as my back hit the wall behind me. I looked up and then down to find that the ice around my hands and feet seemed to embed itself into the wall behind us.

"What a shame," he said walking towards me, the tone and voice slightly familiar to me, "It looks like you're trapped for now." I tried to accelerate my hands or feet to phase through the ice, but for some reason, couldn't. "You can wait for it to melt, or call for help, but I'm sure no one would think any less of you if you decided on the latter," he said mockingly.

"Listen-" I began, only to stop as the guy put his lips on my own. "BLEH!" I cried once his lips removed themselves and the impromptu kiss was over.

"Thanks again," he finished as he turned on his heel and ran off.

"Perfect….just perfect," I thought as I stood their pissed off. I had just been kissed by a GUY and now stood outside, stuck in place, still trying to accelerate my feet to break this ice, but to no avail, "What a perfect freaking day."

I started thinking about the voice again as it had seemed so vaguely familiar, but those thoughts were interrupted as I realized yet again I had been kissed by a GUY. I immediately started thinking of sports and cars and girls as I failed to realize I was still stuck in place.

"There's no way they're finding out about this," I grumbled, "I'd die."

And that's the first chapter...again.

If you notice anything grammatically weird or parts that don't make sense, just anything odd that interrupts the flow, then please let me know. I tried to catch things when changing/editing, but I'm easily capable of missing things/forgetting to delete old parts, so let me know as it'd be greatly appreciated.
