Episode One: Curiosity Killed the Cat
When the body of the ThunderClan deputy is discovered lying beside a busy road, most cats assume that it was an accident- but cars don't cause fang marks. Ashwing and Whitefoot must find out every cat's loyalties- and every discovery leads them closer to the shocking truth
Chapter One: Part One
So here I am with a new fanfiction, having not finished my old ones. Ah, the picture of responsibility!
Anyway, MMC is sort of inspired by the TV show Castle, of which I am a huge fan.
Let's just assume for the sake of this fic that cats can wear clothes (Well, the ones in the WCPD do at any rate) and can walk around on two legs and drink coffee and use human terminology and hold paper and such.
Please?
Thanks.
Enjoy!
Ashwing flipped through a stack of reports on her desk when her partner, Whitefoot, came in with two cups of coffee.
Ashwing frowned. "Hitting the caffeine a little hard today, aren't we?"
Whitefoot rolled his eyes. "Hilarious. No, one's for you."
"Thanks."
Whitefoot gestured to the paper in front of her. "What's up for today?"
"This," said a new voice. Both detectives looked up to see their tech cat, Lakefeather. Lakefeather could hack into almost anything, and every cat learned that if they told her she couldn't, she would take it as a challenge. But, as Ashwing had remarked on several occasions, thank StarClan she joined law enforcement.
Lakefeather flashed a paper at them. "This just came in."
Whitefoot took it from her and skimmed it, frowning. After reading it, he handed it back. "It's just a death report."
Lakefeather rolled her eyes. "Just a death report," she mimicked. Whitefoot raised his arms.
"What?"
Shaking her head, Lakefeather shoved the paper back at him. "Did you even read the name of the deceased?"
Cocking his head, Whitefoot looked at it again. His eyes widened, and he handed it to Ashwing, who curiously read it.
"No way. Mistclaw's dead?"
Lakefeather nodded. "That's right. Lilystar was heartbroken."
"I bet she was," Ashwing agreed. Lilystar, formerly Lilyfur of ThunderClan, had grown up with the former deputy. The two she-cats were best friends- always hunted together, fought together, and shared tongues together. So when Lilyfur, after serving as deputy under Hawkstar, became the leader, it was no surprise that she chose Mistclaw as her deputy. Now, that didn't mean that Ashwing didn't respect Lilystar for her decision. Mistclaw was a formidable warrior and deserved to be deputy.
Ashwing frowned at Lakefeather. "Cause of death?"
"Car accident."
"Hmm."
"But why us?" Whitefoot asked. "We solve homicides. I mean, I regret the loss of Mistclaw, but we're working on a case right now."
Ashwing raised an eyebrow. "We are?"
"Yeah, this one." All three cats turned to see Ravenslash, another member of their squadron.
"Is it Mistclaw?" Ashwing asked, and the black tabby tom nodded.
"I know you think she was hit by a car, but take a look at these pictures that Blossompaw sent us." Blossompaw was the apprentice medicine cat.
Whitefoot studied the photograph. "Hmm."
Ashwing cocked her head. "Let me see." Whitefoot handed her the picture and pointed to what looked like a claw mark.
"That looks suspicious," she agreed, standing up. "What do you say we go talk to Leafnose about it? Show him the picture and maybe we can see the body?"
"Sounds good to me," Whitefoot said, jumping up.
"While you guys go talk to Leafnose, Lakefeather and I will look into the events that happen around Mistclaw's death, and draw up a list of possible suspects," Ravenslash suggested, and Lakefeather nodded.
Ashwing grabbed her coat and scarf. "Let's go."
Do you like it? Reviews are my lifeblood!
