The second Katrine was about to shoot, Janeway felt a sharp pain in her neck – it was over in an instant; gone was Katrine, Janeway took her place. She looked at the foreign object in her hand, realizing it was an old earth weapon called a gun. Appalled by the object she was holding, she turned her gaze upon the person standing in front of her, at the other end of the gun. The young woman, her astrometrics officer, looked entirely different from what she was used to. Her hair was not in Sevens normal French twist and she was not wearing her usual biosuit.

"Seven?"

"Captain", Seven acknowledged. Only then did the Captain realize she was pointing the gun right at Sevens heart.

"My God, Seven, what – what happened here?" Panicking Janeway lowered the gun and took a step towards the blonde woman.

"It is alright, Captain. You would not have hurt me." So calm, how can she be so calm? I almost - Oh my God – I almost shot Seven... The gun fell from Janeway's hand, and loudly clattered onto the floor. In a split of a second she threw her arms around a very stunned Borg.

"I'm so sorry, Seven", the Captain whispered into the young woman's right ear. "I'm so very sorry." Then she gently kissed the star-shaped implant and hugged Seven even tighter.

"Captain, nothing happened. Your neural interface was severed in time. Do not blame yourself for something that did not occur", the startled ex-drone tried to reassure her Captain. Seven slowly returned the desperate embrace and very carefully, as not to hurt her Captain with her Borg-enhanced strength, wrapped her arms around the Captains waist. So this is what a "hug" feels like, Seven thought, It is very pleasurable.

They held each other for some time, one trying to comprehend what was happening, the other examining the sensations of touching and being touched in this intimate manner. After a while Janeway gently disentangled herself from Seven, kissed her one last time on the cheek and whispered "I'm so sorry" before putting her mask back into place. "So, what happened here? Where are we?" she asked as if the last few minutes had not happened. Seven explained.
