Andre sat at the group's normal lunch table, next to his pretty brunette friend. Tori had been absent minded all day, barely participating in their improv class before lunch and ignoring practically everyone, instead just chewing on her nails or staring blankly out the window.
"You okay, girl?" Andre asked, touching Tori's arm to pull her out of her staring contest with the sky line.
Tori jolted at his touch, turning to him and nodding. "I'm fine," She said. Andre raised a skeptical eyebrow.
"I know you better than that, Tor."
Tori sighed, looking down at her sweaty palms. She mumbled an answer to her lap.
"What was that?" Andre asked.
Tori looked up, sitting up straighter and clearing her throat. "I'm leaving Hollywood Arts." She said, a little louder than she'd meant to.
"What?" Andre said, looking like he had just been slapped. "Why?" He asked. Tori stayed silent, the confidence she'd gained in the last few moments quickly slipping out of her. Andre felt his heart slow down as he realized he might know the answer. "Is this because of Jade's party?" Andre asked. "Tori, I'm sorry, we never-," Tori cut him off.
"No, it's not that," She said. "I'm not mad about that. I'm not anything about that."
Though this stung, Andre pressed on. "Then why?" He asked. "You love it here."
"I do," Tori said. "I did. I'm just not comfortable here anymore."
"So it is about us," Andre said.
"No," Tori said, now a little annoyed. "Andre, I'm leaving, I'm not changing my mind."
"We'll all still see each other though, right?" Andre asked, looking for a small shred of hope.
"No," Tori said, taking in a pained breath. "I'm going to live with my Aunt in San Francisco."
"What?" Andre said. "Tori-,"
Tori stood up, grabbing her bag. "I have to go clean out my locker, I'll see you later, Andre."
8 Months Later
Tori had never been so tired in her young life. All the work was worth it though, as she held what she was sure was the world's most precious being in her arms. She traced the features of her infant son's face with her index finger.
"Hey, Mommy," Trina said, poking her head into her younger sister's hospital room. "How you feeling?"
"Sore," Tori said with a big grin on her face.
"Did you pick a name?" Trina asked.
"Dante Harrison Vega," Tori said. Trina sat on the side of the bed, tucking the blanket under her nephew's chin so she could see his face more clearly.
"God, he looks just like Andrew," Trina said. Her heart ached a little as she saw how much he looked like his father, but she mustered up enough sarcasm for an eye roll.
"Andre, Trina," She corrected.
"Are you going to give him a call?" Trina asked.
"I left L.A. so he wouldn't find out," Tori said.
"Why? You think he'd be a dead beat?"
"No, he'd be a great dad," Tori said. "But he's going to be a big star, he won't have time for a kid."
"What, and you don't have just as much potential?" Trina asked. Tori was taken aback.
"Was that a compliment?" Tori asked.
"You just pushed an entire human out of your cooch, you earned it."
2 years later
Andre, Jade, Beck, Cat, and Robbie had all graduated.
Cat and Robbie had gotten married barely a week after. Cat began acting and Robbie became a standup comedian.
Jade and Beck both became actors, but had broken up long before graduation.
Andre got many label offers, but chose to stay in school. He went on tour after graduating; he was an instant success.
After graduating from Lincoln High School in San Francisco, Tori decided to move back to LA. Tori began writing stories, but the only person that heard them was Dante. Tori became a waitress at a nice cafe, making just enough to support herself and her son.
But, honestly, she was happy.
18 year old Tori sat on the couch in her living room. She was completely exhausted. It was her first day off in forever, and she was taking advantage of it. "You wanna watch some tv?" She asked her 2 year old son. It was amazing how much Dante looked like his dad, with warm brown skin, dark brown hair, and big dark eyes.
"Yus!" Dante said, excitedly. 'Yes' was one of the only words he knew how to say clearly. Unfortunately, 'daddy' was also on that list.
"Well, let's see what's on." Dante climbed into his mother's lap, excitedly, making her laugh. The laughing immediately stopped when Tori saw what face was gracing her TV.
Andre Harris.
Tori switched the channels, quickly, and looked at her son. Of course, he paid no attention to the channel change. He was content watching Elmo sing.
But he wouldn't be that way forever.
