Birdcage
Disclaimer: The closest I've come to owning the Teen Titans is having every single episode on tape and being able to recite the names of the episodes in their rightful order by season. Other than that, I don't own the Teen Titans...at all.
I am the product of torment and rage –
A burden whose birth wasn't given a thought –
A small bird bounded; trapped in a cage.
I'm "blessed" with a father I've yet to out stage,
Whose reign among others disaster has brought
Because he is the master of torment and rage.
And I, as a vessel, am destined to wage
A war with my father that needs to be fought
In the crimson-skied plane that I know as my cage.
Though wise and proficient, I am not a sage
I do as I feel, not as I was taught
To outlive the shadow of my father's rage.
It is because of him that, at this age,
If I showed emotion, then I would get caught
Just like a small bird trapped in its cage.
Eraser marks consume this page
As though it were my life, always changing the plot,
Because I'm the product of torment and rage.
I'm Raven; my temple has become my cage.
A/N: Otayz, this is a product of my boredom today after a test in Physics class. The structure, for anyone who doesn't know, is called a villanelle. The rhyming pattern is aba aba aba aba aba abaa, and the first and third lines of the first stanza are supposed to alternately end the last line of every other stanza. Obviously, the poem is about Raven - mainly about her inability to show her emotions and her relationship/the impact of her father on her life.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed, and for those of you wondering about the next posting on Mind Games, please don't pelt me with tomatoes when I say that I'm thinking of rewriting chapter 8 over again. I will try my best to guarantee an update before my birthday, though! Like, I'm seriously aiming to get this chappie out of the way by the 12th of this month, but I don't really like how some of it's coming out. Sorry if I disappointed anyone, but then...well...you can't please everybody. ::shrugs::
Um...so yeah. Thanks for reading, and please, if your awesome possum self would allow, review! And let me know what you think! Sheesh...even flame me for all I care! Just give me your thoughts, because believe it or not, they count. All are loved and loved are all! ...:S. Heh.
