Loki In Midgard
Loki took his first few steps on foreign grounds in awe, his staff dropped from his hand as he wandered the field. Everything was strange, he had only seen Midgard from his throne back in Asgard, only heard its glorious stories from the lips of his arrogant brother. The sun peaked out from behind a tree and the light reflected off of his spear, blinding him. His hand flew up to his face, shielding his eyes from the sun. He turned his back to the sun and walked on. With a jolt he realized that he had just been standing in the middle of this field for the better part of half an hour. He shook his head, his raven locks shifting in awkward gelled up strands.
"You ok , sir?" A farmer approached him from behind with wide eyes.
"Who is speaking? Show yourself!" He demanded as he spun on his heel.
The farmer dropped his rake and raised his hands by his head in surrender, "I'm very sorry to frighten you, sir. Are you lost?"
"I am Loki of Asgard! I do not get lost!" He silently chastised himself for letting his guard down, letting himself show weakness and childish interest, even if it was just for a second.
"Do you need directions?" The farmer again asked the god.
"I need no such thing. But may I ask; where am I?" Loki stood up straight, tightening his grip on the staff.
"Well, you're in the middle of a field that I'm in charge of looking after. And I'm sure you can imagine my surprise when a man lands flat on his butt in the middle of my land." The older man gave him a questioning look as he spoke.
"Can you tell me how to get to the nearest town?" Loki speech was immaculate and his gaze was locked on the older man.
"Yes sir, you keep walking toward those cows up there by my house and then you find a road, from that road you walk until you find a car wash-"
"What is this 'car wash' you speak of?" Loki put up his palm in a 'stop' motion.
"Just look for a big blue sign. Then a straight shot from the car wash is the town. Hope that helps you sir." The man brought his hand down in a friendly pat on Loki's shoulder and nodded his head.
"Thank you for your assistance." Loki nodded and started on his way toward
the cows.
