Lemonade Stand
Jackie was on her way home from the grocery store when she passed a lemonade stand that was being run by two little girls.
Whenever Jackie saw a lemonade stand she'd stop, but because she was a major germaphobe the thought of drinking lemonade that had been out in the sun for who knows how long didn't appeal to her, she did however appreciate the fact that kids were working for their own money so she'd drop a dollar in the cup and then continue on her way.
At this particular lemonade stand Jackie noticed she recognized one of the little girls, she had been in her class just the year before.
"Hi Mrs. Stokes." The little girl that had been in her class (named Amanda) said as she ran over and wrapped Jackie in a hug the second Jackie had gotten out of her van.
"Hi girls, are you having a good summer?" Jackie asked.
"Yeah." Both of them replied.
"That's good." Jackie said.
"Do you want some lemonade?" Amanda asked excitedly.
"You know what sweetie I would but I just stopped and got a coffee, but because you are both working so hard I'll leave ya a tip anyway, how's that sound?" Jackie said as she got a dollar bill out of her purse.
Jackie stuck it in the girl's money jar.
"Wow look at all the money, these girls are should start their own business." Jackie thought to herself with a smile.
"Thanks Mrs. Stokes, we have cookies to, do you want a cookie?"
"What kind of cookies do you have?" Jackie asked.
Amanda nodded towards an empty store bought cookie package.
"They are the really good chocolate ones with a lot of frosting. I have to go get a new package from inside the house, I'll be right back."
"Fresh cookies" Jackie thought to herself with a smile.
Amanda came back a few minutes later.
"Wow those look good, I'll take two of them, that way each of my kids can have a half of one, if I buy them each a whole cookie that size, they'll be bouncing off the walls." Jackie told them.
The little girls giggled.
Amanda very nicely wrapped two cookies in a napkin and handed them to Jackie.
"Thank you, my kids will love these. How much are the cookies?" Jackie asked as she dug in her purse for more money.
"It's ok, you already gave us a dollar, you don't have to pay us." Amanda told her.
"Don't give her the cookies for free, we won't make no monies that way." Her younger sister protested.
Jackie stifled a laugh.
"She's my favorite teacher, I can if I want to."
"It's ok, I'm happy to pay for them. How much are they?" Jackie assured them both, not wanting them to fight.
"Fifty dollars." Amanda's little sister replied.
Jackie's eyes got wide.
"No not fifty dollars, fifty cents." Amanda corrected her.
Jackie struggled to not laugh as she dug another dollar out of her purse and dropped it in the cup.
"Thank you." Both of the little girls said at once.
"You're welcome, thanks for the cookies and you two enjoy the rest of your summer break ok?" Jackie told them.
"We will bye Mrs. Stokes."
"Bye." Jackie told them with one last wave before she got back into her van.
She took the cookies home for her kids and just like she had predicted they loved them, they ate every last bite.
The End!
