Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto.
Hinata sighed as she looked up at the night sky. It was really something to lie atop the Hokage monument while the cool breeze blew her bangs into her face. She shifted her hair behind her ear as she contemplated counting the stars.
She counted about fifty stars until she couldn't make out which ones she had counted and which ones she had overlooked. So to pass the time she decided to create figures by joining the stars. She somehow managed to draw the outline of Naruto's face.
She smiled as she thought of her blond friend, now Hokage. She couldn't be happier for him. He got everything he deserved and she too, the heir of Hyuuga clan. Both of them were taunted for being weak in their younger days but now, both of them were among the strongest. She was very proud of Naruto, for he had not only become a strong ninja but had matured too.
And the happiest thing about it all was? He had stopped chasing after Sakura, even going as far as playing a matchmaker for her and Sai. Really who would have thought Sai and Sakura could get along so well? It was rather comedic if you asked her, not that she was making fun of them. Oddly enough, they were good for each other. Though Naruto had played part in matchmaking but Ino had been real help to get those two together. Not that Hinata was saying Naruto was stupid and not at all discrete and could never become a matchmaker of all things, Hinata only meant to say he was just too bluntly honest. She loved that about him though; how he didn't have any maliciousness or conceit in him, how he truly loved and cared for his people. You wouldn't believe, no, actually you would, that it was a holiday on his birthday except for those dealing with emergency cases. Even ninjas stayed home on his birthday and there was a big festival in the evening.
His birthday was celebrated just about a month ago and it had been wonderful. And Hinata had been privileged along with the rest of their friends to stay with their leader. She had loved the look of wonder on his face, loved the way his eyes had watered making her heart melt and she had absolutely loved the way his lips lifted his cheeks showing off his sharp canines.
She tried writing Naruto's name with the help of all the stars dotting the night sky and joined her name to his. Yes, she was twenty two already and yes, she was still behaving like a teenage girl with a crush. But she couldn't help it, could anyone? She loved him to bits.
She loved the way he smiled, he laughed, he smirked, he pouted and every other piece of him. She loved how she could lay above his monument and feel so peaceful.
"You know if you keep coming here at odd times like this, you'll catch a cold."
"I am just really happy"
"And it makes you beautiful; I don't want you to be sad and getting sick. Come on, little Hinato will get sick too if you do."
She felt a warm hand gently prod her up. She smiled widely.
"Really Hinata, you're getting heavy. How long will it take for the little devil to come out?"
She hit him lightly on the arm all the while grinning like an idiot. "It'll take three more months Naruto"
"Does that mean you'll get heavier?" He looked at her incredulously. But seeing the smile go off her face he quickly added. "Don't worry; even if you are fatter than Chouji, I will always love you and Hinato!" he slung his arm around her and helped her walk to their little cottage which was near that very cliff.
Yes she loved everything about her husband but most of all she loved the way he loved her.
