Nith_Nassam's story

A shadow stole silently from one empty street to another, across the hot sand of the desert to try and escape. He carried with him an egg under the crook of his arm.

Ki_Kura was walking back from a lengthy shopping spree in the Lost Desert Food Shop with her two neopets. It was winter and it was dark at the time, so she had decided to head home. As they quickly walked back, her Kougra's head shot up, and the faint sound of Lupe barking could be heard.
Ki_Kura decided, at the sound of the Lupes, that they should get back as soon as they could. Paying more attention to the howling of the lupes than to what was in front of her, she knocked into a shadowed figure that was passing. She helped both herself and the stranger up, and mumbled her sorries to him. The figure just stared at her. "A..human?" the figure questioned. Ki_Kura was confused but nevertheless nodded her assent.
As the figure stepped wearily out into the light, she looked up in shock; the figure was half-person half-Island Ixi, wearing a long hooded travelling coat and a necklace and broken shackle around his neck. "Wha..?" Ki-Kura started, but didn't finish as the creature kindly stopped her, then showed her the egg he had been carrying. "Please..take it," he begged, "keep it safe."
Ki_Kura just stared at the pale blue egg (with a little cloud on it) in the half-Ixi's hooves. The Lupe barking in the distance had become louder, and the half-Ixi looked over his shoulder, worried, and looked pleadingly back to her. She took up the egg and the half-Ixi smiled. "Hide human," he whispered, "don't let the Lupes see it." Ki_Kura ran into a nearby bush whilst the half-Ixi stood in the centre of the plaza, waiting to the Lupes to come.
They were three highly trained battle Lupes, specially bred for tracking dangerous renegade people and neopets. The three leapt for the half-Ixi, him fighting back and making the Lupes attack even more. The Lupes eventually held the half-Ixi down, the necklace around his neck had broken off during the fight and lay on the floor beside him.
The owners to the three elite Lupe came out of the shadows and over to the scene, taking away the half-Ixi as Ki_Kura and her neopets ventured cautiously out of the bush. The egg in her hands started to crack, it was about to hatch. She quickly thought through a list of names, and when none seemed to be right she looked down, spotting the half-Ixi's necklace laying forgotten on the floor. She picked it up, turning the pendant over to read the letters engraved onto it. "N-I-T-H-N-A-S-S-A-M" She read, and looked down at the cracking egg in her hands, "that's what I'll call you, Nith_Nassam."
And with that, the egg cracked open and a Cloud Ixi poked his head out of the hole, a bright star gleamiong upon his forehead.
