A/N: Hello! This is my first fanfiction, so please don't hate. I'm really trying here. Also, I made this to witness some cute mother-daughter bonding with my favorite character, although it's more bittersweet at the end. If you want some thrilling action, look somewhere else.
DISCLAIMER: I don't own Harry Potter

Long, dirty blonde hair falls in the pale girl's face as she bends over to look in the mud. Her mother helps the five-year old stand back up again, laughing at her daughter's excited expression.
"I promise that we will find some nargles, but they won't be in the mud, Luna."
Luna frowns. "How will I see them if they aren't low down, Momma?"
Luna's mother, Pandora, smiles. "I will help you. Now," she claps her hands together, "Nargles like to stay in leafy places, specifically mistletoe. Since we don't have any near us, we will look in small bushes instead. But be careful, Luna! If you rustle the bushes too much, they will get scared."
Luna excitedly grasps Pandora's hand with her tiny toddler fingers, and runs towards the nearest bush. She jumps into the bush, her mother being pulled down with her. Luna looks around the bush, and frowns when she finds none. Her mother laughs again at her child's enthusiasm, stands up, and pulls her daughter out of the bush, picking leaves out of her hair as she did so. Luna gets frustrated again.
"Don't pull me out! Don't pull me out! There could still be nargles in there I didn't see, Momma! Please let me search the bush again!" The squirming girl shouts. Pandora smiles gently at her. "There definitely won't be any now, they don't like loud noises. Here, let's check this bush, over here. Remember to be very quiet and gentle."
Luna grins, and manages to wiggle out of her mother's arms. She skips over to the bush, her mother close behind. She reaches for the branches timidly, but Pandora gently parts them first.
"Hello? Nargles? I promise we won't hurt you. Please do come out." Luna whispers, trying to not frighten the nargles. They check the whole bush. Nothing.
Discouraged, Luna waddles over to the next bush. She pokes her head in slowly, and repeats the process. Her mother checks another bush. Over and over, they shyly, gently check bushes for nargles. Still nothing, until Pandora calls her tiny toddler over.
Luna comes running, trying to be quiet. Pandora quietly shushes her, and points to a spot in the bush. It's very high. Luna quietly asks her mother to lift her up, so she could see too. Pandora almost facepalms at her forgetfulness. Her daughter is a five-year old! She can't see that high! Pandora lifts her daughter up.
Luna sticks her face in the bush, her wavy hair going everywhere, catching leaves. Neither mother nor daughter cares. They are too busy with looking at the shiny creature with wings. (Although it may have been a fairy.)
Pandora eventually sets her ecstatic daughter down, takes her hand, and starts to take her back home, where Xenophilius Lovegood would be working on his magazine, and the happy family would together lunch.
The two blonde girls walk home hand-in-hand, and Pandora speaks one last thing before they go in the house, "See how being quiet and gentle can help you succeed?"

Years later, after Pandora had died, and Luna was nine, Luna always repeated those words in her head. It helped her feel closer with her now-deceased mother.
Whenever Luna gets frustrated, she will whisper, "See how being quiet and gentle can help you succeed."
