"The Castle has fallen." Preston Garvey tapped an old street map of Massachusetts, covered with pencil scribblings and push pins. "Major Shaw fought a delaying action and shot down all but two of the Brotherhood vertibirds, then retreated under cover of smoke, as you ordered. She collected the settlers from Jamaica and Warwick; they're headed south and west into the swamps. Mayor McDonough has declared Diamond City's neutrality. Spectacle is cut off, but they're ignoring it, heading north and west. There was only a squad in Hangman's Alley; they are falling back while keeping the Brotherhood force under observation. They report a large force of infantry, including at least two hundred in power armor."
Nate nodded. "They're coming for us. Tell Vault 81 to lock the door; they should be all right. Abandon Oberland Station and Greygarden for now. Get a few missile teams into position to knock down those last two birds. Have the Minutemen main force rally at Sunshine, Colonel. This time of year, the ground is too soft for power armor, so they'll have to keep to the roads, while we can move cross country. They have to cross the Charles, then pass through Lexington and Concord." He smiled. "We're going to give the Brotherhood a little history lesson."
A/N: This is a warm-up scene for an upcoming Fallout 4 epic I'm working on. Expect the full story to begin posting some time next year!
