Thanks to yellow 14 for reviewing Across the Years and to everyone who favorited/followed! The relationship between Thalia and Jason has fascinated me since I read The Lost Hero, so I decided to write about it. Enjoy! : )

She gazes around at the cabin they could have shared. Her nest of blankets in the back corner, the towering statue of her father standing tall in the center of the room.

"Thalia, go get the picnic basket."

It could have been theirs. They could have made it more homey, put pictures on the walls, filled it with laughter and cheer.

I'll only be gone a minute. What could go wrong?

Today is his birthday. She still remembers his hair, soft and wispy like a baby chick's feathers, his smile, lighting up the whole world, his voice, babyish and sweet.

Tally? Don'- don' go."

If he was here, it would all be a million times better. They could have been a family. She could have watched him grow up, taught him all she knew, could have done everything she'd wanted to do.

"Don't worry, Jason, I'll be right back."

She joins the hunters not because to dodge the prophecy, not because of Luke, but because she doesn't want to have another person she considers like a brother die. She's already lost one.

"Where is he!? You couldn't take care of him for two seconds!?"

And she fights not for herself, not to save the world, but as a distraction from the giant hole in her heart left by a little boy who she will never forget.

"Thalia, I'm Jason, your brother."
