The Broken Wand Incident
by Miss Write
"Albus come on!" Scorpius shouted at Albus, as he reached for his hand. "Do you want to be late?"
Albus stumbled and dropped all his books and his wand. James rushed through the crowd to help him pick them up, at that moment Albus heard a sickening crunch. He turned around to meet James' worried face. "I…I think I stepped on it," James said.
Scorpius stepped out of the crowd to see what was holding Albus up. The three boys watched in despair as the wand jumped out of James' hands and up the stairs. "My Dad's gonna kill me if I'm late for his class," Scorpius groaned.
"He's right, we'd better get to class," James said in a hurry.
"But what about my wand?!" cried Albus.
"We'll worry about that later, we have to get to class!" said James.
After lunch Scorpius and Albus walked up the stairs to their dormitory. The two boys gasped, the door was wide open. The boys rushed up the stairs to find themselves gasping in horror – the room was a mess! The trunks were wide open, clothes were strewn all over the place, the books were torn open, and the beds were a mess!
"What happened here?" said Scorpius.
"I think I found the answer to that," said Albus as the boys watched the wand hop around the room.
"I think we should go get my Dad."
The boys rushed though twisted halls until they reached Professor Malfoy's office.
"Dad, we need your help…"
"Scorpius Malfoy, what did you DO?!"
"It wasn't my fault! James stepped on Albus' wand, and it made a mess of the dormitory!"
"And you need my help to get control of the wand? Well let's get to it then."
After Malfoy got control of the wand he said to them, "After you boys finish cleaning up this mess, you can go to the Headmistress' office so she can contact Albus' parents, and they can get you a new wand." With that he marched out of the room.
Cleaning up the room took at least an hour, and when they were done they went up to the Headmistress' office. The door was open, so they went in.
"Hello?" Albus asked.
"Come in boys," came her friendly voice. "So, why have you come to see me?"
"Well…um…I need a new wand ma'am."
"Have you lost it?"
"Well, not really, James stepped on it, and then it broke and…"
By the time Albus finished telling the whole story it was dinner time, and McGonagall said, "Once you boys finish your dinner you can report back here so I can contact your parents that they can get you a new wand." And that's exactly what they did.
The next morning Albus was relieved to see James' owl carrying a wand shaped package, it dropped the package in to his hands with it a letter, he opened the wand, it wasn't a fancy one, in fact it looked quite old. Next, Albus opened the letter:
Dear Albus,
Your father and I miss you very much. We hope you are doing well in your classes. Here is a wand to replace the one James accidentally broke. We decided a used wand was better than trying to mend the broken one. Your Uncle Ron broke his wand his second year, and tried to mend it with Spell-O-Tape. One of his spells backfired, and he wound up throwing up slugs. I wouldn't want you to go through that, so here's a temporary wand. Your dad will come pick you up on Saturday to go and buy you a new one. Tell James we said hello. Lily misses you both.
Love from Mum and Dad
On Saturday, Albus' dad came and took Albus and James and Scorpius all out to Diagon Alley, so Albus could choose his new wand. Afterwards they were treated to ice cream. Albus decided that breaking his wand wasn't too bad if it ended with ice cream.
The End
