Crystalline Desires

The tall man stopped suddenly at the doorway, keeping a lookout and breathing hard from sprinting through long hallways.
"Daniel, hurry up! Just grab the crystals and run!" Colonel Jack O'Neill shouted at his team member.
"I'm going as fast as I can! These things take time, Jack!" Daniel shouted back. Oh for crying out loud, I'm trying to save as many jewels and crystals as possible from this world! Can't he see that? Any archeologist worth their salt (another crystal!) would be doing his or her damndest in this type of situation!
Jack suddenly darted in beside him, took the controls and started grabbing crystals willy-nilly, missing many. Daniel yanked the controller back and the two men glared at each other for a long moment. Jack hated to hurt Daniel like this but the situation on this world was not something even they could stop. They came here together; they would all leave together to whatever waited for them on the other side.
"Daniel," Jack said in a low and dangerous voice, "It's time to go back. Yes, they are beautiful and no, I don't want to go either but we're in a bad situation that neither of us has any control over and that's why We. Gotta. GO. NOW!"
Their noses were barely and inch away from each other. Sky blue eyes stared in to chocolate brown, unblinking.
Finally, ever so slowly, Daniel sadly, reluctantly released the controls. The commotion outside was getting louder and there were angry hisses from Major Samantha Carter, who never hissed at anyone – "Sir, we gotta get back, I don't think I can hold them off much longer!" Teal'c stood beside her, grim and silent.
Both men started and stared at the open portal.
Once they left, there was no return.
Daniel stood, almost crying at the loss of his new discovery and followed Jack outside his artifact-cluttered office, back to the Board of Directors annual meeting.
