Chad Danforth started protesting to his teacher "Ms.Darbus! We have our first basketball practise of the year and Troy needs to be there…"His teacher looked at him thoughtfully "Oh Fine, just 15 minutes for you Bolton and Mr.Danforth…You can have the same amount of time as your er…Star here" she said. Sharpay Evans looked at her brother Ryan and whispered to his ear, they both nodded in agreement. She raised her hand "Ms.Darbus! I am willing to stay in detention and help out for our drama club… I'll go instead of Chad!" she said, Ms.Darbus looked at Chad "Well, Mr.Danforth you're a lucky man today, you owe Ms.Sharpay something, you are lucky she is so kind to you" as she accepted Sarpay's offer. As they all walked out of the classroom Chad said to his mate "hey, man sorry but…Sharpay's hitting on you".
"I'll be there on time trust me" replied Troy. That's when Troy recognized Gabriella from the new years' party that he had sung with. "Hey!" he said to her; "Troy? I can't believe you live here, I just moved here. Sorry about the detention thing" she said. "Oh I never stay, I say I need the bathroom and go to basketball practice" he replied casually, "Oh…Well don't you get into even more trouble for doing that?" she asked "Oh, no Ms.Darbus always gives us lectures and doesn't keep track of time she thinks I was just gone a minute" he said laughing. "So do you wanna audition for the school musical with me?" said Troy unexpectedly. "Huh?" Gabriella was confused "Oh, you see each year the school organizes a school musical, you wanna audition?" explained Troy. "Sure…"
