I promise I'll update Late Night Conversations tomorrow, sorry for my month? long hiatus from writing. Just a random oneshot I thought of at 3am. Can be interpreted as either Makorra or Borra, or just friendship.
Disclaimer: I don't own Legend of Korra.
"Soon" I whispered, rubbing together my hands cynically.
"Mako?"
"Korra! It's Bolin" he said, jumping up slightly in the hospital chair next to her, his voice sounding his relief.
"How long was I out?" she asked, rubbing her head.
"Only an hour. The doctors even said you should be released by tonight." he said hopefully.
"Why is it so bright in here?" she asked, squinting at the lights.
"You have a concussion. Thankfully it's not too bad, but we have to talk to you quietly and keep you away from loud noises and stuff"
Korra groaned and pushed herself up into a sitting position, which only amplified the pounding in her head.
"Hey- take it easy" Bolin said, putting his hand gently on her shoulder. "Mako told me to make sure you stayed put"
"Where is Mr. Hat Trick?" she asked, looking around and noticing his absence for a second time.
"Well, he sort of got asked to leave"
"What? Why?" she asked, completely bewildered.
"He sort of created a mess trying to get in here before the doctors were finished. He was dragged out of here. It wasn't pretty."
"Why? It's just a concussion, I'm fine" she said, sitting up straight as to reassure herself of the fact more than Bolin or anyone else.
"It was a nasty fall, I guess he was thinking the worst. I'm just glad you're okay"
"Thanks Bolin. By the way, did we end up losing the match?"
"Yeah, but we're not disqualified yet, since you got injured" he said hopefully, his playful sparkle still evident in his eyes.
"Where do you think he went?"
"Huh-" Bolin asked, interrupted from his thoughts.
"Mako"
"Oh, he's probably outside, waiting for us"
Korra looked over at him and they both shared the same thought, Bolin walking over to her and helping her stand up, wrapping his arm around her waist, walking towards the window. Bolin left her to lean against the wall while he wrenched open the window, having to break the lock to open the two-story high window.
"Hey, City Boy!" Korra yelled out, spotting him on the bench right outside the building, looking very unpleasant.
"Korra?" he asked, darting up and looking around him.
"Look up!"
"Bolin, I told you not to let her get up! Agni, are you okay?"
"Sorry bro, she insisted." he said, looking over to her and sharing a smile.
"I'm fine Mako."
"You should sit back down." he warned.
"What are you going to do? Come back up here and make me?" She challenged, leaning her head out the window.
This girl is impossible, he sighed, setting himself back on the bench in defeat, accepting that he could only wait until she was released.
