"Did that tree just turn into a candy-apple? That can't be right…"
"WAKE UP…Mr. Lane. I will not have you falling to sleep at your desk every lesson!" Mrs. Lynch said, not a note of caring in her voice.
"I…"
"You didn't get enough sleep? Yes well that's the excuse you used last time, and the time before that. I suggest you do something about this insomnia that seems to plague you. Perhaps a visit to the school counsellor might help?"
"If you think he could actually be of any help miss." Jase replied doubtingly.
Jase, a fifteen year old, 'B' average student. A bedraggled mop of dusty blonde hair hid a lot of his facial features, including one of his eyes. Probably the most defining part of him, his icy emerald eyes, splintered by dark blue, and all natural.
"Sorry to hear about Mrs. Lynches' evil plot." Dannii, a girl with ruler straight chocolate hair and designer glasses had approached Jase.
Dannii, Jase's best friend of seven years. Hopelessly clumsy but an ever-flowing fountain of useless yet wonderful knowledge.
"Huh?" he replied.
"Mrs. Lynch? The counsellor? Evil old bag? Ring any bells at all?"
"Oh yeah, sorry. Haven't been the most focused person of late"
"Ahhh, I'm sure it's all just a phase" Dannii attempted to reassure him.
"Thanks Dan but I'm afraid it will take more than your comforting words to make me feel better about this whole situation", said Jase. "I'll see you tomorrow Dan, hopefully this feeling would have passed by then.
"Umm…Okay, bye."
Jase made his way home the usual way. Through the same filth ridden lanes as always, along the same fume packed roads as always. However there was one difference in his route today.
Jase was stopped about two thirds of the way home, along one of the worse roads on his journey. There was a crowd of people and the road had been blocked off by police cars and other vehicles, presumably F.B.I. Jase pushed and shoved his way through the crowd, to intently focus upon the sight before them to take any notice of him.
Jase was shocked at what greeted his eyes. Before him, just beyond the police tapes lay a woman, presumably in her late 20s. Her hair lay across her face, her foot secured firmly to the ground in a block of ice. However the most mystifying, eerie thing about this scene was the woman's head, more specifically her scalp, or lack of as it lay about 5 feet from her body…
Just inside the tape was a podgy blonde woman with the F.B.I accompanied by an ordinary police department officer. Jase was curious and couldn't help but listen in. He didn't make out much, but what he did hear made no sense to him but frightened him none-the-less, "It's not over, he's back Matt, Syler's back!"
