Whenever Rachelle Roth walked down the hall

Everyone in the hall stopped to stare at her;
She was considered a bit freaky to us all;
A dark freak to some, a dark beauty to others.

Rachelle was always silent, never uttering a single word

She always spoke with a razor's tone, dressed in her

Dark gothic clothes, a pentacle hanging 'round her neck.
"Back off" were her favorite words to those around her.

She wasn't the girly giggly type of girl everyone thought;
She was dark, introverted, and feared amongst her peers,
She's had many a deep dark struggle, conquering her fears.

It was her goal for the year, to avoid her classmates leers.

And so, on a particularly dark and stormy afternoon

Rachelle was studying in the darkest corner of the library,
Away from the snickering of her fellow classmates, when

Who should walk up, but Jamie Grayson; the cocky, arrogant

Show-off Rachelle had been trying desperately to avoid.

"So, my lady, why are you over here all alone? Why don't you come over

And sit with my friends and I?" he asked, that annoying grin all over his face.
"I'm fine here, thanks. If you ever call me 'my lady' again, you'll regret it," she

Hissed, a large leather-bound book blocking her face. He reached up to push the book

Down, to look into her beautiful face.

"Then let me at least sit here with you; a beautiful girl like you doesn't deserve to be alone," he said, smiling.

She looked at him for a minute or two, then nodded her head. He came back to the table, his arms laden with books.

"Here," she said, her voice not in a whisper. From the brightest corner of the library, sat Katrina, the head cheer leader,

Looking on with deep, fuming anger.

"How dare she?" she kept repeating to her friends; who sat in equal disgust.
"I must break them apart, it's an absolute must!!" she stormed, still staring with deep, hate-filled disgust.

Then came time for the Winter Formal; and, as normal, Rachelle would not go.
"But Rachelle, why not go? For me?" begged Jamie, at lunch one day.

"Alright!! Ok, I'll go to the dance!!" said Rachelle, as she turned to face Jamie.
"Thank you!! Thank you Rachelle!!" said Jamie, kissing her on the cheek;

In the distance, a shocked female shrieked, boiling with deep jealousy.

At last, the date of the dance was at hand, everyone danced happily to the songs from the band.

"Would you care to dance?" asked Jamie, holding out his hand.

Rachelle smiled and took his hand, letting him pull her onto the dance floor.
He pulled her close, and held her in his arms; she rested her head on his chest.
"You look beautiful, better then the rest of the girls here," said Jamie into Rachelle's hair.
"Thank you," she said into his chest. Together they swayed, together for the rest of their days...
