That morning, he knew not why he had ended up by her door-step, just struggling to catch a breath and find a reason to knock on the door.

There he stood, still not making a move or a sound.

He just stood there,

Watching,

Waiting…

Hoping,

that she would come out and finally give him a reason on why he waited by her door-step.

The door slowly creaked open, and almost immediately, the sweet scent of peaches engulfed their surroundings.

She was there, in front of him, smiling as she always did. The smile she wore that was nearly plastic, since he was told on how through time, her smile has changed when Sasuke had gone.

"Good morning Sai"

"Good morning"

"So what brings you here?"

He had hoped this question would not come up, since he himself didn't really know the answer.

There was a moment of silence as he tried to gather all he could in his head to say an excuse on why he had arrived there.

He did not understand upon why he got up, went out, and came to her. What he was doing, why he was doing it, and how he felt. This feeling that made his stomach hurt, his heart beat fast, his body sweat and his cheeks flush every time he would have an encounter with her.

"Well?" she asked

He couldn't answer. He couldn't even mutter a word. He just stood there, and took a look at her.

He took a good look on how her soft, pink hair would sway with the breeze. How her smile spread across the smooth skin on her face. How her waist curved so perfectly, and most of all, how her eyes were perfectly tinted in the color his paint could not imitate.

"I…" he stuttered "I… wanted to see you."

She was surprised by his answer. She couldn't believe that the Sai she had spent time with, the one who couldn't feel or express, said this.

But most of all…

She couldn't believe…

That of all people, SAI, would want to see her.

Worry was painted on his face, he was scared that he had said something wrong—that he had did something wrong. He was scared the he would regret going here for the rest of his life. He was worried because she just stood there, stunned.

"Did I" he continued "do something wrong?"

"No, I was just—I was—surprised by what you said"

"What is it?"

"What's what Sai?"

"This feeling… when I see you… it's very… odd"

She raised a brow, puzzled

"What do you mean?"

"I get butterflies in my stomach when I see you, and my heart suddenly beats fast and at times… I run out of things to say…"

"Oh…"

"I've read it in books, I've heard stories, and things like this happen when you like someone right?"

Her cheeks flushed red when he said this. She was embarrassed on how he could just plainly say it like that.

"Yeah…"

"So?"

"So what Sai?"

"So what do I do with it? Do I make it go away or something?"

She gave out a silent laugh, then thought of what to say. Did she want him to love her or not? Did she like Sai—did she LOVE him?

"Just…" she mumbled "Just—listen to what it has to say"

He thought for a while and asked himself, what did he want? He paused silently, and listened. Listened to himself think, for once, he listened and at last, he knew what he wanted.

He held her, gently pulling her closer, and just like in the books, they kissed.

And finally, he was able to make these words escape from his mouth: "I love you."
