-1Chapter 1
Noah Bennet watched in horror as Sylar killed Jesse. True, Jesse was not exactly an innocent victim, having gone to Level 5 originally for committing horrific crimes with his ability, but that didn't mean to say he deserved to die like that. No one did.
Noah wanted to tear his eyes away from the site before him, yet he watched in morbid fascination. He didn't know why, but something about Sylar intrigued him. He was different.
When Sylar had finished with Jesse, Noah couldn't help but hide his disgust as they headed back towards the Company car down an alley a few blocks away.
"What's wrong Noah, a bit too close for comfort?" Sylar commented snidely.
Noah couldn't control himself, however hard he tried to suppress his anger. He shoved Sylar up against the alley wall. "What the hell is wrong with you, Sylar? You can't just take someone's life like that, like it didn't mean anything! The people left behind to pick up the pieces after you've done the damage already!"
"Like who?! That guy won't be missed by anyone." Sylar replied coldly.
"You almost killed Claire! People like you shouldn't even be allowed to play God, to have a life -"
"But you're no different from me, Noah!" Sylar persisted.
Noah was about to argue back, and then he stopped.
Sylar was actually right. He had killed in cold blood. In what way were he and this monster right in front of him different? None. A voice in Noah's head echoed. We're one and the same. Sylar cocked his head, knowing that he had hit the spot. He knew the truth. "Who are you to preach to me, Noah Bennet, about playing God? When you know what it feels like…"
Noah realised he wasn't breathing. He exhaled, and his eyes flickered to Sylar's lips before he knew that they were, and he quickly looked back up to meet Sylar's gaze. But Sylar had seen. Sylar…understood. He felt it too, they were drawn to each other- it was powerful. Magnetic. Sylar's dark eyes swept over Noah's lips too, and then he slowly raised his eyes back up to the man in front of him. The man who fought on the side of good. The man who Sylar secretly longed to be.
Neither men could stop what was about to happen.
Their lips closed together, passionately, and it felt like there was a fire between them that no water could put out.
