Not only witnessing the execution of a man the moment he set foot on the place going to be called home for the next coming years, he was facing the concequences of saving a helpless boy from the evil clutches of an arrogant bully who turned out to be the prince. Thanks to his new guardian who turned out to be the Physician of the Camelot's court his reward reduced to be a embarassing day in the stocks. And not to mention the treat of rotten fruits!
All of a sudden his head turned to a side involuntarily. His exsistance may be out of books but this sensation was new to him. It was the second time this unknown feeling takeover him and the previous was when he was facing that blond idiot when he was too distracted pay attention to anything else. His blue eyes travelled up only to be freezed at the sight of a girl looking directly at him. She was indeed beautiful: there was no need to glance at her a second time to know it. She had a long black hair and two equally deep eyes. She was fair; may be paler than even him. He may have found out what this new sensation was if he had two more minutes. But his senses alert him of an approaching body dragging him beack to Earth. It was a girl.
"I'm Guinvere, but most people call me Gwen. I'm the Lady Morgana's maid." she introduced herself.
Then he remembered where exactly he was "Right . I'm Merlin," he said reachening his hand further out of the stocks to shake her hands. "Although most people call me idiot," he added after a second thought.
"No no no, I saw what you did. It was so brave."
"It was stupid."
"Well, I'm glad you walked away. You weren't going to beat him."
He snorted incoherantly. "Oh, I-I can beat him."
"You think? Because you didn't look like one of those big, muscle-y kind of fellows."
"Thanks."
"No! No, I'm sure you're stronger than you look. It's just erm... Arther's one of those real rough, tough, save the world kind of men, and...well..."
"What?"
"You don't look like that."
He motioned her to move closer as if he was going to tell her a big secret. "I'm in disguise."
She laughed. "Well, It's good you stood upto him."
"What? You think so?"
"Arther's a bully, and everyonethought you were a real hero."
"Oh, yeah?"
"Mm-hmm."
"Oh, excuse me, Guinvere. My fans are waiting," he said sarcastically as the children came to his view with more rotten fruits.
He looked back at where the girl was standing mere seconds ago only to find nothing. He briefly wondered if he was hallucinating before he was distracted by the second serving of thank-you-for-saving-the-boy pie.
